2. Communication
Communication means to convey a message by
one person to another so that another person may
understand, follow & implement the message.
It is the way of reaching others by transmitting
ideas, facts, thoughts, feelings and values.

4. Barriers of Effective Communication
Anything that disrupts or acts as hurdle in the
process of communication is called as a barriers to
communication.
Physical Barriers
Semantic Barriers
Language Barriers
Cross-cultural Barriers
Socio-psychological Barriers
Organizational Barriers
6. Use of Simple Language
The Sender should keep in mind the receiver while
choosing the words and phrases.
The message should be sent in simple & easy to
understand language.
Chosen words should be appropriate to the level of
receiver.
Double meaning words like leave should not be
used in the message.
There should be least use of technical words like
debugging.
7. Use of Feedback
Feedback ensures that his message has been
conveyed as he desired.
Avoid asking listener, “have you understood,” ask
them instead their views about what you have
said.
This is the most polite and best way to have your
listener involve in a conversation.
Avoid giving negative feedback, give constructive
feedback as it leads to effective communication.
8. Be aware of Language, Tone & Content
The language used in the message should be clear,
simple and easily understandable.
The tone & content of the message should not
provide any harm to the sentiments of listener.
The tone you use to convey the message must be
appropriate.
The contents of the message should be short &
simple.
9. Clarify ideas before communication
The message to be transferred should be clear,
practical, accurate & without any ambiguity.
You should be very clear about your objective and
what you want to convey.
There should be proper arrangement of words or
thoughts in the message.
Aimless talks can be misleading so you should
always try to show that there is an aim or motive
behind your talk.
10. Use of Organizational structure
There should be a ideal span of control within the
organization.
Simpler the organizational structure, more effective
will be the communication.
The levels in the company should not be complex &
should be optimum.
11. Proper Communication Channel
The managers should properly select the medium
of communication.
Try to directly communicate with the person
concerned.
Simple messages should be conveyed orally
through face to face interaction or meetings.
Use of written means of communication should be
encouraged for delivering complex messages.
12. Be a Good Listener
As a receiver, listen the thoughts or message of
sender very carefully & attentively.
The biggest problem arises when the message is
not listened carefully.
Ask questions & clarification.
Real communication takes place when the receiver
hears the message and understands the intention
of the speaker or sender.
13. Other ways to Overcome Barriers
Be Patient.
Respect others.
Proper use of Body Language.
Proper Health conditions.
Use Reliable Telecom Network.
Use appropriate Technology.
Control your emotions.
Overcome things like bad old habits.
Don’t jump directly to conclusions.
