3. INTRODUCTION
▪ The initiative is about clean cooking energy solutions in Siaya county, Kenya.
▪ It is meant for two things – distribute efficient cookstoves and financial
empowerment of the local communities especially women.
▪ It has saving and loan mechanism that enables the production efficient and
affordable cookstoves
▪ The project also grants micro-loans to local communities for education or

▪ Establishment of 654 saving and loan
groups with more than 15000 members
▪ 91% of members have purchases
efficient cookstoves
▪ More than 15000 efficient stoves
installed in 2013, with more than 76000
beneficiaries

fuel

▪ Efficient combustion result in cleaner
indoor thus better health
▪ It improve the health of women and
girls
▪ The project had also generated jobs for
local communities.
