As the canvas tent flew over him during a vicious thunderstorm in Ohio, a timid 12 year old had to reevaluate whether Boy Scouts was the right program for him. A dozen years later, he's glad he stuck with it. Today, as an employee of the premier youth-development organization in existence, I have a chance to give back to the organization, the volunteers, and the program that helped me grow into a highly-motivated, mission focused, critical thinking, bold and action-oriented leader. Study after study shows that men who were Scouts are more likely to possess desirable traits throughout life than non-Scouts (ex. Baylor University's, "Merit Beyond the Badge").
