Provide examples how the nominee demonstrates effective strategies and techniques of
instruction.
Ms. Lilly creates a learning environment rich with activities where students actively and willingly
engage in their learning. She always pushes the students to create and reach personal goals,
supporting them every step of the way.
Provide examples of how the nominee uses innovative approaches to support the instructional
program.
Delivery of learning experiences is one of Mr. Lilly’s specialties. This is where she weaves her
magic in class. She accesses several modalities in order to engage all of her students. She’s often
seen providing visual and kinesthetic cues.
Provide examples of how the nominee shares ideas and/or materials and a willingness to
collaborate with co-workers to improve student achievement.
Ms. Lilly’s powerful instruction in the classroom is based on her strong content knowledge and the
research she conducts. She plans with other teachers where the focus questions are created and uses
those questions as a model for her own. Even before coming to planning meetings, Ms. Lilly has
researched subject matter related to each SOL and division curriculum goal addressed. Throughout
the planning process Ms. Lilly inquires how we, the teachers, teach the concept, such as how to
summarize a non-fiction piece, so there is consistency in the process and vocabulary.

administrators, co-workers, and the community?
Ms. Lilly has built an extremely strong relationship with her students. They know she wants them
to be successful, and because of that students have the utmost respect and trust for her.

by using critical thinking, problem solving, creativity, innovation, communication and/or
collaboration.
Ms. Lilly is a consummate educator who employs the latest technology as well as her own research,
inquiry and creative skills to plan and deliver the best instruction for students. As an ESOL teacher,
collaborating and communicating with her co-workers is essential and she is widely respected for
her collegiality and positive approach to everyone she encounters at Mayfield Intermediate School
