What can you carry forward to a
challenge you are now facing?
Claiming Your Personal Power

34. You will feel better now and next year if you don’t let others talk over you or
you ask for your contribution to be recognized.
You may be judged when you stand up for yourself. What is the worst than
can happen? What is the gain for you?
Courage is acting in the face of fear. Being calmly direct with requests will get
easier with time.
Set Your Boundaries
36. If you can
prepare, what
would be helpful
to consider?
What is the personal purpose for
your request (you are
important)?
What results do you hope to
achieve? What impact do you desire
that you aren’t getting now
(respect, value, feeling seen)?
Are you open to other ideas? If not,
what will you do if your request is
denied?

38. How do you confidently present
yourself online?

Matter
• Be conscious of your background… is it
professional, warm, non-distracting? Is it real?
• Wear professional clothing – match the nature
of the talk but wear nice clothing no matter the
time of day.
• Frame yourself so your nose is in the middle of
the screen. If possible, show your upper body
so they can see your hands when you talk.
• Make sure you use front lighting, but not too
bright. Lay a piece of parchment paper over
the bulb to soften the glare.
• Have a good Internet signal and sound quality.
• Be authentic, vulnerable, and fun.
• Remember to care about your audience!
