- 2. 2017 DAYTON WORLD SOCCER GAMES Dear Team, Thank you for your interest in participating in the Dayton World Soccer Games! This event is an opportunity for the Dayton region to come together and celebrate the cultural diversity of our community. The information in this packet should answer most of your questions regarding the tournament. Additional information can be found on our web site at www.welcomedayton.org. Completed packets must be received by the City of Dayton, Department of Recreation and Youth Services on or before Saturday, September 2, 2017. We will contact you once your packet is received to confirm your information. Page 1 Fact Sheet TOURNAMENT: Dayton World Soccer Games Community Event DATE: Saturday, September 16, 2017 Opening Ceremony and Youth and Adult Soccer Games LOCATION: Action Sports Center 1103 Gateway Drive Dayton, Ohio 45404 AGE BRACKETS: There will be 4 youth teams in each age bracket. 1. Ages 6–7 (6–8 players per team) 2. Ages 8–9 (10–12 players per team) 3. Ages 10–11 (10–12 players per team) 4. Ages 12–13 (15–18 players per team) 5. Ages 14–18 (15–18 players per team) There will be 8 adult teams in each age bracket. 1. Ages 19–30 (no more than 18 players per team) 2. Ages 31 and over (no more than 18 players per team) *Brackets are subject to change based upon registrations received TEAM REGISTRATION: Each team must represent one country and have at least one member on the team who is from that country. Countries will be accepted on a first-come-first-served basis. Duplicate countries will be put onto a waiting list and informed of whether or not they are accepted no later than September 9, 2017. ENTRY FEE: Youth Teams – $75 if registered by or before August 19, 2017 $100 if registered after August 19, 2017 Adult Teams – $100 if registered by or before August 19, 2017 $125 if registered after August 19, 2017 Entry fee must be paid at time of registration. Cash, checks or money orders are accepted. Please check with the OHSAA, your coach and/or athletics director before playing in this tournament.
- 4. Page 2 2017 DAYTON WORLD SOCCER GAMES Fact Sheet (Continued) UNIFORMS: Teams will supply their own uniforms. Teams must wear matching uniforms, but should be creative in representing their country. Each uniform must have a number specific to the player in bold font with a line width of no less than one (1) inch. Each player must also have soccer cleats, shin guards, and soccer socks. Uniforms cannot interfere with the game, pose a distraction to another team, or present a danger. CONCESSIONS: Concessions will be available at the tournament site. Alcohol must be purchased on site and can only be consumed in designated areas. - 5. Page 3 Event Agenda This agenda is tentative and is subject to change. A final event schedule will be provided at Team Check-In. TEAM CHECK-IN Saturday, September 16, 6:30 am – 8:30 am All teams must check in between 6:30 am and 8:30 am at the registration table. PARADE OF NATIONS Saturday, September 16, 8:30 am Teams will line up from 8:30 am – 8:50 am. The Parade will be from 8:50 am – 9:15 am, and will include all teams representing their countries, marching under the country's flag. TOURNAMENT KICK OFF Saturday, September 16, 9:30 am At 9:30 am all first round teams must report to their field for their match. - 6. Page 4 Coaches Concussion Information In order to protect young athletes, the State of Ohio has passed a concussion law, commonly called the Return to Play law. Therefore, all Ohio Tournaments are responsible to monitor and track compliance with the concussion training requirements of the Return to Play law. It is required that each coach receive approved concussion training prior to the Dayton World Soccer Games. Below you will find two links for the Free Concussion Training. Once the training has been completed, a certificate can be printed. Please submit the certificate with your Pre-Tournament Registration Packet and other required forms. The participants RELEASE or DISCHARGE The City of Dayton, its agents, sponsors, employees and volunteers, Dayton World Soccer Games, Action Sports, and their agents and employees, from liability for injuries or damage, including any losses CAUSED BY THE NEGLIGENCE OR STRICT LIABILITY of the released parties. The participants agree not to sue or make a claim against those agencies and agree to hold them harmless and indemnify them from all claims and suits that may be brought as a result of use of these facilities or participation in sports and/or programs held at these facilities.
