機構簡介
基督教女青年會屬國際組織，是一個全球性跨
越種族、地域及文化的會員運動、婦女運動及
基督教運動的社會服務機構。協會設於瑞士日
內瓦，現於逾百個國家都有基督教女青年會的
設立。
香港基督教女青年會於一九二零年創立，一直
以「生命的栽培」為服務宗旨，致力促進服務
受眾的身心靈發展。端賴上帝的恩佑及各界支
持，本會至今已發展至一個多元化的服務機
構，共有六十多個服務單位遍佈全港，服務更
伸展到各階層，年齡由兩歲幼兒至高齡長者，
惠及本地居民及不同國籍人士。
Hong Kong Y.W.C.A.
Y.W.C.A. is an international social service organ-
ization promoting Membership Movement,
Women's Movement and Christian Movement,
across different regions and cultures. The Head-
quarters of World Y.W.C.A. is located in Geneva,
Switzerland and YWCAs are now established in
over 125 countries.
The Hong KongY.W.C.A. was founded to meet so-
cial needs in 1920. "Enhancement of Life", which
is the guiding philosophy of the Association,
plays a key role to provide multi-faceted oppor-
tunities and capacities for people to achieve
holistic development. Thanks to God's grace, the
Association has bloomed to a multi-service or-
ganization, with more than 60 centres spreading
over the territory, to serve targets ranging from
infants to senior persons of different nationalities.
女青活學中心是香港基督教女青年會轄下一
個創新及專業的教育中心，位於女青年會總
會所中，擁有國際化教學環境、一站式全方
位的教育課程及完善的設施。我們秉承著女
青年會「生命的栽培」的服務宗旨，透過一
系列的教育課程和服務來豐富個人、家庭，
至到整個社會的生命。女青活學中心提供不
同種類的課程、講座、活動等，無論是學前
或在學兒童；成人或退休人士，都一一照顧
得到。無論你感興趣的是中國文化、兒童體
操、、國際菜餚、游泳或家傭課程，都能在
我們中心找到。
YWCA's Centre of Learning and Life Enhancement
is an innovative and professional learning centre
equipped with a full spectrum of educational and
learning services for preschoolers, children, adults
and retirees. We are centrally located and offer a
variety of courses, talks, outings and events each
year catering for the whole family. Dedicated to
enhancing life through learning, the CLLE em-
powers through educational and other services
that improve people's lives, the lives of their fam-
ilies, and the communities they live in. Whether
your special interests are in Chinese local culture,
children gymnastics, international cuisines, swim-
ming or helper courses – chances are you will find
it here in our booklet.

CLLE's Private classes:
Over the years we have had requests from adult participants and parents to organize special sessions of
their favourite courses like swimming, calligraphy, gymnastics, soccer and basketball. We can arrange for
Private, small group or one-on-one classes if the proposed schedule doesn't work for you. Please contact
customer services to discuss your requirements.
We also have on board renowned Occupational Therapist Mr. Stephan Chan who can do an assessment
and work one-on-one with you child for any developmental issues. For more details refer to page 133.
應各方多年的要求, 本會為不少客戶安排私人教授, 如游泳、書法、體操、足球、籃球班等等。若常
規課程不切合個人需要，可聯絡客戶服務安排私人、小組或個人課堂。
另外，本會亦可安排資深職業治療師陳子文為客戶進行兒童發展評估及一對一治療，欲了解更多詳

又是時候預備迎接炎炎夏日，不如先到女青享受
一個親子親水樂，教練除了會與家長小朋友玩一
些有趣水上遊戲，令小朋友享受水中樂趣家長亦
可認識我們的游泳教練、向教練了解我們的游泳
課程資料，不要錯過!! (每次限一位兒童及一位家
長參加)

kid to enjoy in the pool and play some games with our

Baby Boosters (12-20 Months)
Music, Movement & Fun - Twoddlers & Toddlers (2-3 YRS)
Baby Boosters is in its third successful year at the
YWCA. It is designed to meet the developmental
needs of children aged 12-24 months. The class
promotes linguistic and cognitive development,
fine and gross motor skills and sensory
exploration, as well as social and emotional
development. It is a chance to expand on that
increasing inquisitiveness in a fun and stimulating
environment through a whole range of activities.
Gateway Education certificates are awarded
after completion of the course.

Native English Speaking Teacher
This isn't just a 'bounce around the room'
class but a focused (in a fun way) set of classes
throughout the year to help develop that all
important co-ordinated connection between
the cool sounds we hear and the fun(ky) moves
we can make. An eclectic mix of developmental
physical study and cool choons that we can throw
some shapes at! Gateway Education certificates
are awarded after completion of the course.

With a different theme each month, 'World in
Words' offers parents and students a great chance
to work through 12 different monthly themes
covering hundreds of words, phonemes, concepts
and ideas and fantastic take-home worksheets.
All of the monthly thematics are focused on Hong
Kong students in both local and international
educational streams. A fantastic hands on cognitive,
academic, social and emotional developmental
class. Gateway Education certificates are
awarded after completion of the course.

Parents have been asking Gateway to continue
with a craft themed class for years rather than
just have it in summer and here it is. The two
main parts of this class are 'Circle time' using the
amazing 'Mr Men' and 'Little Miss' books and
then a 'Craft time' section when students have
a chance to get messy (like Mr Messy) at our
craft table and take home their themed artwork.

Kinder Maths - Twoddlers & Toddlers (2-3 YRS)
Kinder Foundations is exactly what it says in the
title, the foundation skills all Hong Kong students
need before they enter into the competitive world
of Hong Kong kindergarten life. A dedicated mix
of speech, early writing development, language
development, fine and gross motor skills as well
as basic mathematical concepts all bundled
together with Gateway's social and emotional
development ideals. This class is fun and physical,
not sitting around tables studying! It's on the
floor, doing activities, identifying concepts and
telling everyone all about it. A great class for the
pre-or early kinder student. Gateway Education
certificates are awarded after completion of
the course.
Maths Masters Classes on Tuesdays are always
popular, so Gateway started their maths program
Friday mornings too! In the developing child, the
concepts of colour, shape, size, time, distance and
numbers are often taken for granted, when in
reality it takes lots of exposure, questioning and
fun & games to really push understanding. It's
also a great chance to further develop social and
emotional skills in a classroom environment. This
is an active hands on class with lots of take home
activities for parents and students. Gateway

Phonics Fun
Gateway Education's Phonics Fun program is a
comprehensive set of classes designed exclusively
for students in Hong Kong. It begins with basic
alphabet recognition and the introduction of
simple sight words and moves through hard
consonants and vowels, explores word families
and investigates blends, digraphs, trigraphs and
magic letters. Students will take this knowledge
and develop it further learning not just sounds,
but how to use them in both reading and writing.
They will explore how sounds work together to
make CVC words and move on to larger more
complex words. Students are encouraged to pull
language apart before working out how to put it
back together again.
All of this is done in a fun interactive way using
a range of activities and high quality materials.
Students will develop both fine and gross motor
skills, as they explore the world of phonics
through board work, floor work, games and
our fantastic full colour interactive worksheets.
Phonics Fun Class 1 (2-3 YRS)
The perfect class to get young Hong Kong
nursery and lower kindergarten students off
to the best possible start. As well as basic
alphabet, letter, hard consonant and sight word
introduction, this class also focuses on social and
emotional skills for those students new to an
unaccompanied classroom environment.
No previous knowledge is needed for this class,
as we will take students through the alphabet
before exploring basic hard consonants, hard
vowels, word families and blends. A great
introduction to phonemes and graphemes.
The real phonemic investigation starts here
as students are introduced to soft vowels and
consonants, digraphs, trigraphs and magic
letters. There are plenty more sight words
too, as well as the chance to deconstruct and
reconstruct language.
The focus is on complex blends, controlled
vowels and consonants and also further
investigation into trigraphs. There is plenty
of writing and sentences level work at this
stage. A perfect level for students moving into
international P1 or local K3 classes.

Reading Tree
Discover the joys and the skills of reading with
Kipper and his family. Gateway Reading Tree
classes are based around stories from the popular
Reading Tree series. Students join Kipper and his
family on a series of adventures, but the classes
include way more than just a story.
We begin with the basics of reading; page
turning, words, syllabication and the alphabet.
Students move on to basic sight words, starting
sounds and some phonemic skills. We spend
time developing burgeoning writing skills. Word
recognition and sentence construction are
essential skills for reading and relaying stories
and events and are explored through multiple
skill sets. We continually add to students' stores
of sight words, while exposing them to new
and interesting vocabulary. Oral skills also play
a large part in these classes; not simply the
ability to read the word from the page, but the
need to understand and relay information and
to demonstrate empathy through presentation
skills. As writing skills gradually play a larger part
in the classes, so too does opinion, as students
are encouraged to dissect and discuss character,
themes, plots and consequences.

An early introduction to reading, with stage 1 and

Reading Tree Kinder/Pre-Kinder Years (28-
36months)&ReadingTreeClass1(2-3YRS)
These classes are aimed at nursery, those heading
to kindergarten and early K1 students. They are
unaccompanied, with a choice of morning or
afternoon classes. They are just as much about
social and emotional skills as they are about reading
as students enjoy both stage 1 and stage 1+ books.
Reading Tree Class 2 (3-4 YRS)
This class is the perfect fit for K1 students and is
based around stage 1+ books. Gateway's trace
and write worksheets are introduced here.
This class is suitable for upper K1, all K2 and some
younger K3 kids who have basic to better letter and
language recognition. It uses stage 2 and 3 books.
This class is based around stage 5 and 6 books
and is for students already able to read basic and
multi-clausal sentences.
Reading Tree Class 5 (6-7+YRS)
This class is aimed at students who are already
developing readers and would like to try to
extend those skills and also increase writing and
presentation skills. The class is based around
stage 8 and 9 and also Treetops books.

Creative Writing Class 1 (6-8 YRS)
In this class, there is more opportunity for
students to discover their writing talents. They
will work with titles such as 'Directors Cut',

The next stage of Gateway's Creative Writing

Gateway Explorer Series
Country Explorer – Class 2 (6-7YRS)
Gateway's 'Explorer' classes offer a great insight
into the people, culture, art, sights, sounds,
movements and tastes of our wonderfully
colourful world. Each class will focus on a different
region starting with the continents in the younger
classes, countries in the middle class and then
focusing on cities in the older classes.
It might be a good idea to describe these classes
as a mix of Geography and Humanities with a
sprinkle of History, a dash of Liberal Studies and
a spoonful of Languages. Of course, that's before
we get into the food and drink of each region,
not to mention the music and dance that helps to
make each of these wonderful cultures different.
World Explorer - Class 1 (5-6YRS)
Starting in September with 'Europe' and then
through the school year with 'Asia', 'North America',
'Africa', 'South America', 'Oceania', 'Indian sub-
continent' and finishing off with 'the Arctics'. Each
of the continents will take a few weeks as we learn
the languages, try the food, meet the people and
discover the culture.
As students move to the second class, it's time to
focus on some of the most interesting countries
in the world. It would be impossible to cover
every nation in one year, but we think we've put
together a pretty cool list. We'll start out with'the
United Kingdom' then on to 'Egypt', 'China', 'USA',
'India', 'Australia', 'Brazil', 'Germany' and if we have
time, we'll cover, 'South Africa', 'Russia' and 'Mexico'.

'Gym For Tots' is a programme designed for
children from walking to three years old. During
each session there will be an opportunity to run,
climb, roll, jump and play with balls, beanbags,
quoits and skittles. There are many skills that will
be developed by joining the session ' fine and
gross motor skills, concentration, ability to follow
instruction, tidy up, take turns, be imaginative,
discover, explore and be part of a group.
Through the use of songs, rhymes and music

The 'Gym for Joy' programme at the YWCA quickly

Course
Over 400 children each week come along to
Kinder Kicks mini soccer and Kinder Bounce mini
basketball at the YWCA! The Kinder Kicks & Kinder
Bounce Curriculums have been created by our
professional coaches, who have over 10 years'
experience in working with very young students.
Every session is planned to develop players in 3
areas:
« Motor skills (developing balance, co-ordination
etc.)
« Soccer/Basketball-specific skills (ball skills,
introduction to football/basketball basics)
« Social skills (learning to behave, follow
instructions, share, take turns, teamwork etc.)
Each session is also part of a longer-term plan.
We are happy to give more details about our
session planning if you would like it. Our sessions
are always fun, but include real coaching and real
learning!

Kinder Kicks 小童足球班
Kinder Kicks is a soccer play program for children
from walking to 5 years old. Our professional
coaches will teach a wide variety of exciting games
where students enjoy themselves while learning
the basics about soccer. Each activity is designed
to improve a young child's motor skills but more
importantly is a good learning experience for all
involved.
One parent/guardian is required to attend each
class along with their child. In walking-2 and 2
year-old classes the parent will need to participate
with their child (don't worry - it's easy!). In the
classes for 3 years olds and over one parent/
guardian should just be on hand (and watch them
dribble, pass, shoot and score goals!)

Asia Pacific Soccer Schools
APSS classes at theYWCA are for 5, 6 and 7 year old
children. Here the emphasis is on building soccer
skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting.
These classes use specially weighted soccer balls
so students can learn better control of the ball and
really learn to play the beautiful game! If a child is
5 years old and has not played much sport before
it might be more beneficial to complete a Kinder
Kicks 4-5 years course first, before moving to APSS
sessions.

Kinder Kicks Mandarin
Kinder Kicks in Mandarin is designed for children
who want to combine a fun soccer class with
basic Mandarin learning. Children will have an
age-appropriate soccer class while they learn
basic directions, colours, numbers and more in
Mandarin from the coach through the activities
they do. One parent/guardian is required to attend
each class along with their child, and some parent/
guardian participation may be required to get
them passing, shooting and speaking in no time!
This class is more suitable for beginners in
Mandarin.

Tennis for Kids (Outdoors at the Hong Kong Tennis Centre) 網球 ( 户外上課 )
It doesn't matter your child's level of play, Larry
will be on-hand to help your child develop the
skills needed for a fun and exciting game of
tennis. Starting with the basic strokes: forehand,
backhand, volley and serve and introducing plenty
of ball skills to develop hand-eye co-ordination
for the younger players. If your child has played
before, Larry will enhance his/her skills by
introducing serve and topspin! Match play will be
introduced as your child progresses throughout
the course. Larry is a full-time freelance tennis
professional and has been teaching in Hong Kong
for the past 11 years.
Note:
« Participants are required to bring their own
racquet.

Happy baseball is tee ball that based on and
simplifying baseball and softball. It is intended
as an introduction for children aged 4 to 8 to

tee-ball allows young child to learn the skills
of batting, catching, running the bases, and
throwing, while making it both easier to hit the
ball and less likely for batters to be injured.
