I am the coco de mer

Descargar para leer sin conexión

This presentation relates to the Coco De Mer of the Seychelles, the largest nut in the world. The Coco De Mer is the pride and joy of the Seychelles, it's shape is widely used as company logos, jewelry, postage stamps, bank cards and the like. It is an icon which was even used on the immigration stamp when one visits the Seychelles. It was stamped upon arrival and departure in a visitors passport. Now, some clever spark thought they would remove it for reasons unexplained. Where is the 'Uniqueness'?

I am the coco de mer

 1. 1. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coco_de_mer I am the Coco De Mer, the largest seed / nut in the world. I am endemic to the Islands of the Seychelles. I primarily grow in the Vallee De Mai on the Island of Praslin. My home is a Unesco World Heritage site. If you want to get technical, you can also call me Lodoicea maldivica Learn more about me by visiting the below link to Wikipedia. In the meantime, following are some photos of me, moi, the Coco De Mer, aka Lodoicea maldivica .
 2. 2.

The reason why I created this show is because:-

I am unique

I am 100% natural

I am an icon

I represent the Seychelles people and no one else

Some countries use plants such as Tulips, Daffodils, Roses, Shamrock, Palm Trees as their national identity.

Some countries use animals such as Eagles, Kangaroos, Springboks, Oryx and Camels as their national identity.

Why are you ashamed of my shape? I was here before you!!!

 3. 3. Since I am a protected plant / seed (nut), I am not that readily available, but, I am always recreated in different forms to show my uniqueness as you will see in the photographs to follow. You will see me in all my glory, in my natural state, in gold, in silver, as a visa electron card, as an accessory on some postcards (you will soon know what I am talking about), as logos, as keychains, as an ash tray, as a fridge magnet to name a few. So, all I ask is that you view this presentation with an open mind and an open heart. Please don’t let others tell you what you can and what you can’t do with me for the sake of a few freebies. Have the decency to stand up for me, I represent you; the Seychelles people and our beautiful islands. Bring me back as a passport stamp again so visitors to our lovely shores can show that they have truly visited and been on the shores of Eden.
 4. 4. Just click away!!!
 5. 23. Bring back the Creole Spirit! (that’s me by the way)
 6. 24. Thank you for taking the time to view this presentation. Now take the time to pass it on to millions, email it to all who you think loves me and believes it was wrong to have me removed in the first place. If you pass it on, someone / some people or thing in high places may notice and have me back in action as a stamp again. Yippee! If you don’t forward, just don’t walk under my tree again!
 7. 25.

“ LEST WE FORGET”

“ In April 1958, a major fire threatened the Vallee De Mai.
