Questo seminario sulle tecniche di troubleshooting fa rientra nella collaborazione fra K-Tech (http://www.k-tech.it/) e la Facoltà di Ingegneria dell’Università Roma TRE, nell’ambito delle attività della Consulta. Il seminario presenta come risolvere problemi tipici dei sistemi distribuiti che avvengono in produzione. Insieme agli esempi pratici si presenta anche un metodo per il troubleshooting che assicura una maniera veloce ed efficace per la determinazione dei problemi ed in generale per la gestione delle performance applicative. Gli esempi pratici mostrano come applicare correttamente il metodo e selezionare gli strumenti più adatti in ogni singolo caso. Il processo di certificazione della capacità operativa delle applicazioni web è basato su un metodo analitico che permette di predire il comportamento del sistema in produzione. Il comportamento dell’applicazione viene misurato durante test eseguiti nell’ambiente di stress che usano carichi di lavoro progressivamente crescenti. Attraverso l’andamento dei principali parametri di performance si costruisce un modello lineare che descrive il comportamento del sistema in funzione del carico di lavoro. Tale modello è utilizzato per prevedere le performance del sistema in produzione. Saranno presentati alcuni esempi concreti, ognuno con necessità e complessità diverse, in cui abbiamo applicato con successo il processo di certificazione. Per ognuno di essi mostreremo le specificità dell’analisi preliminare, gli strumenti software disponibili, gli obiettivi preposti e come questi siano stati raggiunti utilizzando il metodo esposto.

Speaker: Giuseppe Galli We present a set of common issues for a server side Java Virtual Machine (JVM), together with practical examples demonstrating how to troubleshoot them successfully. This material is taken from a multi-day course offered by K-Tech s.r.l. The course aims to skill Application Servers Administrators (ASAs) in taking actions that facilitate and accelerate the path to the solution, focusing on the most effective way to minimize the impact on the production. To achieve this, we present a simple but comprehensive and efficient methodology and discuss some common scenarios. We also discuss ways to apply the presented methodology to practical scenarios and compare the results to those of actions taken by ASA.

Dalla console web è possibile monitorare e misurare le prestazioni della rete, dei server, delle applicazioni, gestire gli asset IT e i processi HelpDesk di Incident, Problem e Change Management (ITIL). Il modulo di Business Service Management permette di mettere in relazione i servizi offerti al business con le risorse dell’infrastruttura IT e di valutare correttamente l’impatto di un’interruzione o di un decadimento delle performance. In caso di fault di un elemento dell’infrastruttura (es. un Database Server), IT360 invia un allarme (email) allo staff-IT e apre automaticamente un incident sul sistema di HelpDesk, segnalando i servizi di business su cui il fault ha impatto, e assegnando la priorità.

A key challenge we face at Pacmed is quickly calibrating and deploying our tools for clinical decision support in different hospitals, where data formats may vary greatly. Using Intensive Care Units as a case study, I’ll delve into our scalable Python pipeline, which leverages Pandas’ split-apply-combine approach to perform complex feature engineering and automatic quality checks on large time-varying data, e.g. vital signs.
