I apply communications strategies to make social change, and to help organizations fulfill their missions. At Citizen Schools for eight years, and now at The Achievement Network, I use the principles and tools of storytelling to support innovative models for fighting inequity in public education in the U.S. I am also a public speaker on popular culture, parenting, and social injustice. My TEDxBeaconStreet talks have been viewed more than 2.5 million times, and I have worked with Walt Disney Animation Studios and LeanIn.org and Girl Scouts of America's "Ban Bossy" campaign to adapt the talks for training purposes.
