TOP TIP: When you use a tripod or stand: set the camera to go off with the self timer.
If you have an iPhone, you can take the picture with the volume buttons on a pair of apple headphones/ear buds;

39. LIGHTING
TOP TIP: A cheap but very effective way to increase the quality of the light is to use an
inexpensive car windshield screen or a piece of white card as a reflector. These can be
found anywhere that sells car stuff.
How to use the light you have:
a. Natural light: Get near a window or outside with the sun coming slightly from the side.
b. You can face the light source - will brighten up your face
c. Face away from the light - you get backlighting and a very dreamy, dramatic effect, GREAT OUTDOORS when
sun is low.
d. Be careful of squinting
e. Shoot it on an overcast day - light is soft and flattering

40. How to Edit Your Photos
on Your Smartphone
● Use an Editing App:
In camera app, Lightroom, Snapseed
● Cropping: Keep to original ratio
● Filters are for polishing. Only Use ones
that make your photos look real
● ENHANCE YOUR MESSAGE by adding
Text using Canva

○ Avoid anything that looks fake
● TOOLS:
○ Tune - General brightness to the
photo. Can use wand tool for auto.
○ White Balance - Temperature or Auto
WB / Picker tool
○ Lens Blur - For out of focus
background
○ Crop - Keep to same ratio
○ Expand - Useful for adding space
around the photo to frame or space
for text/ logo
● EXPORT - Save photo to camera roll
● UNDO
