Fuel Economy
Misuse of vehicles is reflected immediately in fuel consumption. With the OBD Analyser one can
create usage policies that allows to improve significantly the consumption of your vehicles.
Fleet Maintenance Costs
Misuse of vehicles reflected always in maintenance costs and sometimes lead to traffic accidents.
With the OBD Analyser one can create usage policies that allow lengthen the intervals of their
vehicles while improving their reliability and safety.
Abuse of taxi cabs
The transport of clients without activation of the taximeter leads to outflows of funds and heavy
fines. With the OBD Analyser one can create policies that validate the use of client seats and
activation of the taximeter.
Doors of transport vehicles
Opening doors for transport vehicles may be improper especially for those under special climatic
conditions – the OBD Analyser can monitor these situations. It is still common to use the reading
opening doors to avoid common car accidents caused by opening doors in while in transit.
Wear out of vehicles
Within seconds an irresponsible driver can destroy a clutch, a gearbox or the engine of a car. The
repair costs of these systems cost thousands of Euros and sometimes it is so difficult to detect the
causes and who provoked it. The OBD Analyser shows you that right on time.
A breakdown of engine, even signposted, can go unnoticed in the eyes of those who do not care
about the cost of repairing this alert. The OBD Analyser can inform you of this condition even at a
long distance (ie, in a remote mode).
2. What does the OBD Analyser do?
•
Ensures accountability in the use of cars;
•
Ensures compliance with the basic rules of vehicles usage;
•
Allows you to set and implement abusive policies;
•
Guard in the internal database months of use;
•
Provides records of misuse of the vehicle;
•
Send SMS Alert when abusive situations occurs;
•
Allows you to block the vehicle from a remote position;
•
You can lock the car automatically when abusive use occurs;
•
Allows you to read door status;
•
For taxis (cabs), allows you to read the state of use of customer locations and condition
with the activation of the taximeter.
Installation OBD Analyser
The OBD Analyser is installed in the passenger compartment of the car in a place that is not
accessible, which typically is behind the dashboard of the car. This is connected to the vehicle OBD
plug, connected to vehicle power supply (12/24V). This unit is fitted with a SIM card from a GSM
operator.
How to configure the OBD Analyser
The OBD Logger can be easily configured locally or remotely:
Local configuration: Connecting the unit OBD Analyser installed in the car, by and USB
cable, to a (portable) computer;
Remote configuration: The OBD Analyser can be remotely configured via a GSM
communicator or even for a simple phone.
Which vehicles compatible with the OBD Analyser?
All vehicles, including trucks, manufactured and sold in the EU, since 1996, were required to be
equipped with OBDII standard. However, only the cars manufactured since 1999 have the
information protocols that allow OBD Analyser communicate with the vehicle.
How OBD Analyser does fits car:
In the configuration phase, the OBD Analyser detects the parameters that the vehicle offers that can
be used in the definition of policies, providing a way to test these parameters in order to facilitate
the setting.
3. What are the parameters that OBD Analyser uses?
The OBD Analyser can use different parameters, provided that the vehicle makes them available, for
example, engine coolant temperature, RPM, speed, Mileage fault light on, throttle position, etc. The
system also allows detecting if OBD Analyser was turn off the vehicle to prevent it to detect misuse.
Other parameters that OBD Analyser can read in the car:
The OBD Analyser has two digital inputs that can be used to detect if a door is open, a device was
turned off, emergency brake actuated, detect whether there is a customer in the customer seat and
read the state of the taximeter. The state of these inputs can be conditioned to any parameter that
the car offers. Examples:
-
Detect an open door while the vehicle is moving;
-
Detect that was activated the emergency stop with a vehicle speed greater than five
km/h;
-
Detect that the taxi has a client in the backseat and the meter is not connected within
60 seconds.
What OBD Analyser can do when a policy is violated?
The OBD Analyser allows you to configure its actions when a policy is violated, thus providing
several warning signals:
-
Send an SMS up to four individual mobile phones with the information from the policy
violated and the car identification;
-
Inform the central system that can centralize an unlimited number of vehicles via GSM;
-
Warn the driver with an acoustic signal in the vehicle;
-
Operate an available output of the OBD Analyser which can turn off the vehicle, active a
warning horn or any other system actuated by the OBD Analyser system;
-
Save months of historical data, such as policies violated, in the internal database and allows
these to be consulted directly via an USB port.
