When I was growing up, 41st from the Park Avenue viaduct to Fifth Avenue was mainly a backstreet with service entrances to business facing the much busier 42nd Street.

In the late ‘90s, the Library, the Grand Central
Partnership, the property owners and the New York City
Department of Transportation banded together to insert
bronze plaques into the sidewalk featuring quotes from
literature and poetry.
Thus was born Library Way.
