LEADING THE STUDENT EXPERIENCE AT KING’S
Ensuring that the vision, mission and 5 pillars
of the KUCSC are known and upheld.
VISION
Exemplify and empower the student experience.
MISSION STATEMENT
“In the spirit of searching for, discovering and communicating truth, the KUCSC, strives to ad-
vance the student experience by providing opportunities to learn, grow and experience the
world.”
THE 5 PILLARS OF OUR ORGANIZATION
Enriching and Ethical
We are fair, principled, transparent, and strive to uphold our vision and mission. Our purpose is
to empower King’s students and help them achieve their goals. We wish to develop learning ex-
periences and encourage all students to become active members of the King’s, Western and
London community.
Diplomatic and Student-Driven
We have a meaningful working relationship with our College Administration and we must contin-
ue to create and enhance our relationship with all internal and external stakeholders. We will be
student-driven at all levels of advocacy while maintaining a collaborative and open dialogue with
the King’s University College, Western University, University Students’ Council and the commu-
nity at large.
Engaging and Supportive
As a vital part of the King’s community, the KUCSC seeks to contribute to all aspects of stu-
dents’ lives. We recognize our responsibility to contribute to, advocate for, and engage in stu-
dents’ intellectual, personal, and emotional growth, and commit to use our resources—knowl-
edge, experience, time, and means—to fulfil this duty.
Accessible
We are a diverse group of students representing a diverse student body. Our goal is to continue
to be more accessible for students from all backgrounds by being welcoming, understanding
and inclusive. We will be visible, outreaching and engaging by pursuing an open dialogue with
students at all levels of our organization. We will continuously review our policies, procedures
and documents and strive to enact change that positively includes and celebrates the diversity
of all students of the King’s University College Community.
Democratic, Independent and Collaborative
We are a student-led organization. All members share the common goal of representing the
student body of the King’s University College. The King’s University College Students’ Council is
the independent voice of King’s students at all levels of government. In addition, we have affilia-
tion with Social Work Students’ Association, St. Peter’s Seminary, Affiliate Councils, University
Students’ Council and various other organizations.
LONG TERM GOALS
CREATING AN ENVIRONMENT OF CARE, COMPASSION AND COLLABORATION
The KUCSC will strive to make its operations, events, advocacy initiatives and facilities open
and welcoming for all. We recognize that we are here to serve students and will do this is by ac-
tively listening, understanding and acting in a manner that is of the utmost honesty and integrity.
We will treat all members of of our community with dignity and respect. We will achieve our
goals by working collaboratively with students, administration, faculty, community members and
the City of London to advance the student experience. We will review our operations, policies
and procedures on a continual basis to make our organization as accessible as possible.
INCREASING VISIBILITY AND UNDERSTANDING OF COUNCIL
The KUCSC recognizes that in order to achieve the goals of the students, which by virtue are
the goals of students our organization, we must ensure a high level of visibility and understand-
ing of council. We will strive to have all students be aware of and able to access the resources
they need to succeed by taking an active role in their everyday life. Council members will aim to
lead initiatives with equal parts knowledge and passion in hopes of inspiring students to get in-
volved not only with Students’ Council but with King’s University College and the community at
large. The KUCSC will endeavour to make its activities and documents clear and accessible in
order to increase transparency, accountability and responsibility.
EFFECTIVE ADVOCACY AND REPRESENTATION
The KUCSC strives to be an effective representative body that honestly and genuinely pursues
the interests of the students here at King’s. The KUCSC will take student feedback and turn it
into concrete advocacy points to be presented to the College at the appropriate forum. Each
representative, in consultation with the Chief Communications Officer and President, will devel-
op tangible goals that their constituents want to be achieved. Each member of the KUCSC will
strive to represent their constituents and fellow peers with integrity and professionalism.
ESTABLISH AND STRENGTHEN LINES OF COMMUNICATION
The KUCSC will evaluate and implement a communication strategy that will advance the corpo-
ration’s vision and mission. This strategy will integrate techniques that effectively deliver infor-
mation to students and garner feedback from students, creating an open dialogue, both internal-
ly and externally. The KUCSC identifies the importance of efficient, responsive and receptive
communication within the corporation and between external stakeholders to best serve stu-
dents. Comments and feedback on events, operations, advocacy and facilities will be dealt with
openly, and in a constructive manner. The communication strategy will showcase the accom-
