- Common Submission errors and questions.We have received the resolution report but not sure what to do with the data you have provided us. Can you advise?Every month, our system generates resolution report for each prefix. The report contains overall resolutions rates,list of popular DOIs that were successfully looked up and total count ofhow many times each DOI was looked up. When a researcher clicks on a DOI link for an article, that counts as one DOI resolution. A successful resolution would redirect the user to the article landing page. The failed resolutions will redirect the users to "Handle Error page“, either due to a technical problem or because of DOIs did not exist. We encourage publishers to review the list of failed DOIs and ONLY register the valid DOI numbers. If the report contains invalid DOI numbers, you should disregard those DOIs from the report. To avoid high failure rate, it is very important that you review the submission history after every deposit and take care of failed submissions. --------------------------------We made an error while registering the DOIs, how do we fix the metadata?If the metadata deposited with a DOI is incorrect but the DOI itself is correct, you can just redeposit the DOI with correct metadata - the bad metadata will be overwritten.Once an article's metadata has been deposited with CrossRef, you may update it as often as you want at no additional fee. When making an update, you must supply all the metadata for the article, not just the fields that need to be changed. To update DOIs and metadata, deposit the updated information in the same way that you would deposit any other DOI or metadata. URLs can be updated usingtwo simple steps: 1) create a tab separated text file containing list of DOIs and new URLs 2) send the file to support@crossref.org. Usually, for this type of request, the turn around time is quick. We suggest you submit this file when the new platform is up and ready because once the file has been processed, the DOIs are active immediately. ---------------------------------<msg>ISSN “01988220" has already been assigned to another title...<msg>You will notice this error occurs when the journal title in your deposit does not match with the title in our system. Our system title gets generated based on your initial deposit. If you provided incorrect title during the initial deposit, you should email support@crossref.org with the correct journal title and ISSN. We will fix the record from our end. One the title has been updated, your deposit will get processed successfully. <msg>ISSN “0198-8220" is owned by publisher: 10.5555</msg>This error usually occurs when the journal title is owned by a different publisher in our system OR the similar title version already exist in the system BUT with a different ISSNs. If this is an ownership issue, the acquiring publisher should provide us an email confirming this transfer that came from current publisher. <msg>Record not processed because submitted version: 2013925172741 is less or equal to previously submitted version (DOI match)</msg>The timestamp value is more like unique version name. The value must be grater than the previously updated version. If you notice this error, you should increment the timestamp and re-upload the file. <msg>Added with conflict</msg>If you receive this error, this means two DOIs were deposited with the same basic metadata. This can be resolved by either updating the metadata of DOI which contains incorrect or incomplete metadata or by marking one DOI as primary in conflict. ---------------------------------
