Cullen graduated from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and served in the U.S. Army as a field artillery officer. He earned a Master of Business Administration from Louisiana State University and then spent more than seven years with The Home Depot. He served in a variety of roles in its Store Leadership Program in the Expo Design and Landscape Supply Divisions; for HD Supply leading the assimilation of nine acquisitions into SAP; and leading the development and implementation of the store operations portion of SAP within The Home Depot Canada Division.
