Part Two: Revision Worksheet and Part Three: Reflection on Advice
PART TWO: REVISION WORKSHEET
Revision is one of the most challenging steps in the presentation ecosystem, but with some attention to three areas: content,
visual story, and delivery, you will be on your way to developing a strong final Ignite presentation. Use this
checklist/questionnaire to further refine your plan of action for the Ignite presentation. If you can honesty and objectively
answer yes to these questions, you have engaged in strong revision.
CONTENT
The following questions relate to the content and organization of your presentation. Examine your overall presentation and its
structure carefully. Then answer the questions below using complete sentences.
1. Does my presentation have a clear big idea? Identify your big idea; type your big idea into the space below. Does it match
this description? Your big idea for a presentation should be 1. Your perspective on the topic, 2. What's at stake for the
audience, and 3. One complete sentence. For more, see page 78 of Resonate.
Yes, my presentation does have a clear big idea.
Many people women included, judge dancers and cheerleaders based on what they see at the game, barely knowing what
really goes on behind the scenes and how these ladies are chosen to be on the field and/or court.
Yes it does match the descriptions given.
2. Highlight yes or no for each of the following. Each of these pieces relates to the organization of your presentation. Review
the Ignite Outline Worksheet, pages 36-44 and 126-129 and the storyboarding an Ignite presentation.
a. My presentation is organized using the structure found in the outline worksheet from week 1. (YES/NO) Copy and
paste your revised outline using instructor and classmate feedback.
b. Big idea: Professional dancers are wrongly stereotype because people think they
are uneducated, a distraction, a waist of time when it comes to being apart of a
professional sports team.
c. Audience’s Journey: The target audience is adults 18 and up. Professional
dancers would benefit the most from my perspective. The audience will see that the
stereotype they have giving dancers are not true and look at them in a different light.
d. I am a professional dancer and while meeting with fans at games, promos,
events etc. they always ask me where do I think that I’m going to get in life with a dance
career and no educational career. I simply tell them most of us on the team already have
our degree or are close to getting them. Dancing is like a second job/ hobby that we love
doing just for fun because its not like we get paid a lot.

I will use these sources to give factual information to the audience to show proof of what I am
trying to get across to them.
I. Beginning
• Slide 1: Hook/attention grabber: A quote from one of the articles
• Slide 2: Hook/attention grabber: Another quote from another article to get my big idea started
for my next slide.
• Slide 3: The Big Idea (pages 78-79): The stereotypes about pro dancers are wrong; dancing
is a part-time job/ hobby for them. They have actually have degrees, well paying jobs, and or in
college getting there degree.
• Slide 4: What’s in it for your audience? Explain why your topic is important or worth
discussing. The truth about dancers and their lives is what’s in it for the audience. This topic is
worth discussing because professional dancers can gain the respect the deserve and need.
They can become role models for other inspiring dancers.
• Slide 5: Why should your audience listen to you? Explain your ethos (personal experience,
expertise, and credibility). My audience should listen to me because I have experienced being
stereotyped and know how it feels to be put down, not respected, and called something I’m not
because I am a professional dancer. I want to tell my story and be heard and understood.
• Slide 6: Call to Adventure (pages 38-39): You can understand the struggles and stereotypes

pro dancers go through if you new all the facts.
II. Middle
• Slide 7: Preview the three main points that will support your big idea: 1. Most professional
dancers are educated and have very good careers. 2. Most dancers dance because they love
it and or they have been dancing all their life and want to continue and make it a career. 3.
Dancers want to be role models and want people to understand why they dance.
• Slide 8: Introduce and set up Supporting Point One: People that Stereotype say that dancers
are paid what they are worth but how can you say that if you know nothing about them but that
they dance.
• Slide 9: Factual or emotional evidence: They look at dancers as showing to much skin.
• Slide 10: Factual or emotional evidence: Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders rake in an estimated
$1 million per season to the franchise through everything from annual swimsuit calendars to
pricey training camps for aspiring cheerleaders. But the women make only a pittance — $150
per game.
• Slide 11: Introduce and set up Supporting Point Two: Pro dancers dance just because they
love to do it.
• Slide 12: Factual or emotional evidence: Dancers don’t receive pay for practices, photo
shoots, most appearances, insurance, and don’t get paid that much for games.
• Slide 13: Factual or emotional evidence: Most dancers have children, families, fulltime jobs
and other responsibilities but still make sure they show up to practices, games, and any other
little to none pay events.
• Slide 14: Introduce and set up Supporting Point Three: Any and every dancer can back up
why the stereotypes for pro dancers aren’t true.
• Slide 15: Factual or emotional evidence: Most pro dancers are educated and have good
paying jobs or close to getting there degree.
• Slide 16: Factual or emotional evidence: Most dancers have graduated college before they
came apart of a pro dance team or are doing it while they are on the team. They are trying to
accomplish their goals while doing what they love.
• Slide 17: Call to Action (pages 42-43): The audience should do their research and try and
understand dancers and the lives they live.
III. End
• Slide 18: Summarize the main points: Dancers are always stereotyped and not well

understood. They dance because they love it not for the little money they do get. Most of them
are well educated with fulltime jobs outside of being a pro dancer. You have to know and
understand them and their lives to know what all they go through before you stereotyping them
and making them look like they are worthless.
• Slide 19: Restate big idea: Understand dancers before stereotyping them to be something
they aren’t.
• Slide 20: Clincher/new bliss (page 44): Because they have to show a lot of skin, dance like
know one is watching, don’t get paid much and still want to do it doesn’t mean that they are
know good. Do your research and you will understand why they do it and that dancing isn’t a
much it’s an option that they love doing.
f. My presentation includes a strong introduction with a hook, big idea, what's in it for my audience, credibility, and call
to adventure. (YES/NO) Where in your introduction are these pieces?
g. I include transitions between each of my main points as well as between the intro and body, and the body and the
conclusion. (YES/NO) List your transitions between each of the main parts of your presentation.

I am a professional dancer so I know what other dancers and cheerleaders are going through.

VISUAL STORY
The following questions relate to the visual story or slides for your Ignite presentation. Examine each of the following and
answers these questions about your slides.
7. My slides feature each of the following major slide design concepts. Be sure to review your feedback for the Ignite Slides
as well as the Introduction to Presentation Design lesson.
a. My slides are unified--I use one or two fonts, three-five colors, and repeated shapes/layout. (YES/NO)
b. I use large, high quality, commercially-available images. I've also cited each of those images. (YES/NO)

DELIVERY
The following questions relate to the delivery of the presentation.
9. How much time have I devoted to practicing and rehearsing up to this point? I have went over my presentation 5 times or
more. Have I worked to rehearse using the methods in the lesson Finalizing your Ignite? No, I haven’t rehearsed using
those methods yet. Im trying to get comfortable with what I have to say. Am I applying the best practices for delivery
discussed in week 3 of the course? Yes, I think I am applying the best practice. Type in your answer in complete

10. Have I worked on the following REAL delivery strategies/techniques? You should be implementing all of these strategies
in developing the delivery for your final presentation.
a. I've thoroughly analyzed my audience and tailor my presentation to them. (YES/NO) What have you specifically

PART THREE: REFLECTION ON ADVICE
Respond to the following questions using complete sentences on a Word or Pages document. Feel free to write as much as
you wish in regard to the following questions:
a. Discuss the things you were advised to focus on in your original draft using complete sentences. List two or more things
you were advised to work on related to your content. List two or more things you were advised to work on related to
your visual story. List two or more things you were advised to work on related to your delivery. Note how you plan to
address each of these areas of concern.
I was told not to read word from word. I was told to use fewer words. Two things I was told to work on for the visual
were to watch the background and my appearance. Two things that I was told to work on that was related with the
delivery were try standing in my presentation and use movement and gestures.
b. How do you feel about your Ignite presentation so far? What has been most helpful to you in terms of creating this piece?
You might note lessons, library resources, Go To Meetings, the Writing Center, conversations we have had, feedback received
from fellow classmates, or sections in your book as most helpful.
I feel very good about my ignite presentation. The most helpful thing with getting my presentation right is all the comments my
teacher has given me.
c. How much time are you planning on spending on this final assignment? Be honest. How do you think this amount of time
will help or hurt your final grade?
I have already started working on my final presentation and will continue to work on it until Sunday at 8PM.
d. What final questions or concerns do you have about revision, time constraints, finalizing your presentation, research, etc.?
I was wondering if I could send you a copy of my presentation on Saturday to see if there are any errors that need to be fixed
before Sunday?
