JamaaCommunicating families with tcks
Jamaa helps to facilitate communication between families with children who do not
live in the country where their parents were born and race. It is also useful for families
with parents of different nationalities. Children in those situations are known as Third
Culture Kids (TCKs) and they often experience family life in a nontraditional way.
Jamaa has two main purposes. Bridge cultures by promoting an organize communication
between multicultural families, and bypass cultural values from adults to children, by
promoting regular communication between the family members living in different parts of the
world.
It can be a useful tool for cultures with high uncertainty avoidance, because people know in advance how the
communication is going to be.

With Jamaa parents can invite other
family members to spend time with the
child. There are predetermine activities
from which parents can choose. All
family members will receive the
invitation and will have the same
opportunities to accept.
The application evolves as the child gets
older. New options become available
such as: “read to me” or “teach me”, and
the child can invite the family on his/her
own.
