- Virtual world librarianship provides significant benefits in distance learning, reaching nonusers, communicating and collaborating with international communities, recruiting students, and greater accessibility for disabled users. For librarians VWL provides opportunities for continuous professional development, research, and collaboration with faculty, students, and colleagues at a distance.

- The Reference Desk on Info Island International (staffed 80 hours per week), the Events wall with a controllable slideshow and searchable open access databases, the teleport boards for quick hops to locales on the Info Islands

- Librarians and friends built this orientation walk especially for educators and students for self-paced instruction in the 10 basic SL skills. Often mentors are available for individual help and instruction. Located near the reference Desk staffed 80 hours a week with live reference librarian avatars.
