West Virginia University made some massive changes to its social media strategy in 2014. This presentation takes a look at those in detail. This presentation was given at the CASE District 2 Conference on Feb. 3, 2015 in Washington D.C. by Tony Dobies, senior writer and social media manager at West Virginia University.
13. Our 10 steps to recovery
1. We need personality
2. We need goals
3. We need a social media
managers group
4. We need student
ambassadors
5. We need a new social
media hub
6. We need Snapchat
7. We need to be smart
marketers
8. We need a campaign
9. We need to be social
consultants
10. We need to share our
successes
16. We’re proud Mountaineers – the proudest. We’ll wear
the gold and blue on our sleeves and scream our
successes atop every mountain. As many fellow
Mountaineers, we’ll showcase a friendly and welcoming
attitude, especially to those touching our University in
some way. We’ll have fun and joke but can show a
serious side when needed. We’re the biggest
Mountaineer fan we know.
Our personality
21. 1) Engage more with prospective and admitted students
2) Find more “celebrities”
3) Develop more consistent ways to report and analyze
