Class Mark Robbins US Navy Petty Officer Robbins was combat wounded in Iraq. He lost an eye and suffers from traumatic brain injury. “I could barely walk straight due to my injury, my wife had never been to the [San Diego] area, and we both didn’t know how to navigate the medical system. Class Michael Lammey US Navy Petty Officer Lammey was severely burned in a shipboard accident. The Lammey’s don’t easily ask for help, but eventually, Petty Officer Lammey asked for support in helping his wife find a job. Two days later their Non medical Non-medical Care Manager, Ms. Veronica Bailey, called back with a lead on a job that eventually led to an offer. “We went a long time not knowing what our benefits were. Safe Harbor Foundation Foundation need identified in 2009 after discussions with Navy Safe Harbor non-medical care managers and staff. A small group of retired Navy and proactive individuals decided to take action. Began the establishment process in mid-2009 by completing paperwork mid 2009 paperwork, researching needs, and making contacts. Granted 501(c)3 status and IRS provided Name and Tax Status paperwork in August 2009. g Received first monetary donation in November 2009 and completed first support project in December 2009. Receiving support from various private donors, corporations, spouse clubs, and veterans organizations. All volunteer staff.
