SECTION: A
This pre-visit took place on 16 April, 2017 at the campus premise. This visit was done
to find out and understand the current status and strategies that campus has undertaken taken
to achieve its goals and objectives.

SECTION: B
Darchula Multiple Campus (DMC) is located in Khalanga, Darchula is one of the
oldest campus of the district. It has been playing a vital role in higher education sector in the
district imparting education in three different Faculties viz. Education; Management; and
Humanities.
Features of Darchula Multiple Campus
The major features of the Campuses are:
1. Finances are mainly self- generated. The sources include student fees, community
contributions and other local resource mobilization.
2. The Campus regularly conducts internal examinations. Based on analysis of internal
examinations, it has been offering extra and remedial classes.
3. It is a community campus run through the cooperation of multi-stakeholders including
parents, social workers, municipality and other stakeholders.
4. Community participation and support was found to be satisfactory.

Overall Impression
During the visit discussion with several stake holders were carried out on topics like: Campus
policy, Curricular aspects, Research, Consultancy and Extension, Infrastructure and learning
resources, Information System and Public Information, Students Support and Guidance and
certain impressions were noted about the discussed topics. The team has made
recommendations for the campus on the basis of the found impressions. The impression and
recommendations are as follows:

the Campus with Internet facility.

in sufficient separate space.

departments. Separate cabins are
made for the departments.

Scholarship Scholarships at the Campus are
managed according to its institutional
rules.

providing few scholarships for needy

canteen and Rest

A drinking water is available in the
Campus. Canteen isn't available.
Sufficient rest rooms are maintained
in reasonable condition.

RECOMMENDATIONS
The Quality Assurance and Accreditation Pre-visit team is thankful to the all
stakeholders of the Campus. The SSR is comprehensive and informative.
The various stakeholders of campus including Campus Management Committee
(CMC), teachers, students, and non-teaching staff were found to be very participative and
responsive during the meeting and very much willing to get QAA certification.
The Pre-visit team would like to suggest the Campus to comply with the following
recommendations before the PRT visit to the Campus.
Priority Recommendations:
1. The Campus should facilitate and encourage the faculty members for higher studies
(M. Phil/ PhD) and other professional trainings.
2. The EMIS system should be activated.
3. Display Peer Reviewed Professional Journals in the library.
4. Provision of performance appraisal system must be strengthened; condition for
academic promotion of faculties and promotion of non-teaching staffs should be done.
5. For proper integration of teaching and research, teachers should be encouraged to
write evidence based cases for use in the classroom. Financial support in the form of
seed money should be provided to encourage research activities among teachers.
6. Canteen should be developed with sufficient space.
7. Training opportunities should be provided to the non-teaching faculties.
8. Strengthen the library: introduce bar coding system, manage reading room and add
the number of journals and references by changing the library into an e-library
system.
General Recommendations:
1. DMC needs to introduce some need-based and soft-skill oriented courses for its
students.
2. Self-sustaining programs need to be started.
3. The campus should extend its formal relation with different industries and institutions
to facilitate practical exposure of students.
4. Use of software in administrative and examination information record keeping is
recommended.
5. The rest rooms and campus premises need regular maintenance and cleaning.
6. Facility of internet should be provided to the faculty members and students and in the
library.
7. The departments should be separated.
8. Space for sports facilities must be provisioned
9. Teaching learning methodology should be focused on practical aspects.
10. Internal examination must be regular.
11. The campus should have provision for proper emergency health services including
sick room.
12. Facilities for student counseling and placement should be in place. A student career
counseling cell should be created.
13. The campus should utilize the potential of stakeholders including the alumni for
sustainable development.

  • 4. 3 | P a g e SECTION: B Darchula Multiple Campus (DMC) is located in Khalanga, Darchula is one of the oldest campus of the district. It has been playing a vital role in higher education sector in the district imparting education in three different Faculties viz. Education; Management; and Humanities. Features of Darchula Multiple Campus The major features of the Campuses are: 1. Finances are mainly self- generated. The sources include student fees, community contributions and other local resource mobilization. 2. The Campus regularly conducts internal examinations. Based on analysis of internal examinations, it has been offering extra and remedial classes. 3. It is a community campus run through the cooperation of multi-stakeholders including parents, social workers, municipality and other stakeholders. 4. Community participation and support was found to be satisfactory.
  • 5. 4 | P a g e Section C Overall Impression During the visit discussion with several stake holders were carried out on topics like: Campus policy, Curricular aspects, Research, Consultancy and Extension, Infrastructure and learning resources, Information System and Public Information, Students Support and Guidance and certain impressions were noted about the discussed topics. The team has made recommendations for the campus on the basis of the found impressions. The impression and recommendations are as follows: Policy Procedure Area Impression Recommendations Remarks Strategic Plan/ Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives Vision, Mission, Goal and Objectives (VMGO) are clearly defined. Regular meetings and engagement leading towards achieving VMGO are recommended. Job responsibility and performance appraisal system Job responsibilities of the faculties and other staff are specified in the Charter of the Campus and have mentioned in the appointment letters. Working on developing performance appraisal system. From our visit it is seen that the faculties and other staffs are working harder than their specified normal working hour. Mechanism to ensure participatory decision making system Campus Management Committee (CMC) is the decision making body. The faculties, staff are also given right to make suggestions in decision making process. Students' feedback and comments are also considered by faculties and forwarded to the CMC. Student representation in CMC was impressive. Role of operational level staffs is seen in the decision making process, that must be continued. Stakeholder community feedback and orientation system The Campus has General Assembly which includes people from different wings of society. The Campus organizes conferences/ meeting of stakeholders/guardians annually. Local community should continue supporting good work of campus and at the same time give constructive suggestions as and when needed. Curricular Aspects Consistency of teaching learning with academic goals and objectives of the institution; Campus is following the syllabus specified by university and has developed proper lesson plans of all the courses for the smooth execution of all the courses. In addition to the courses specified by university, Campus should be aware of the requirements of local market and provide extra programs accordingly without hampering the core courses and study of the
  • 6. 5 | P a g e Planned teaching campus is providing extra soft skills for career development of the students. students. Skill enhancement sessions Campus is providing guest lecture from personals from different organizations to the students for the familiarity of the working environment of the organizations and extra knowledge. Also provision of internship has been made for the students. Continue with this type of extra learning activities Feedback from academic peers and employers Defined feedback system is yet to be introduced. Feedback process from students, academic and management level needs to be developed and implemented. Practical Exposure and skill enhancement trainings Students are offered to visit nearby industries and communities. Potentials get an internship opportunity in nearby companies, banks and in community organizations. Include exposure activities in campus calendar and further collaboration with other organization be expanded. Teaching, Learning and Evaluation Basis of admission The past result, entrance examination and interview of students are the basis of the admission Entrance examination practice on each program to ensure quality education is to be strictly adhered. Tutorial and remedial classes Campus has made good provision of extra classes for all the students Campus should continue the good practice. Supplements to lecture method Campus has developed soft and hard copies of the lectures of all the courses, has facilitated students with Internet service for getting additional learning materials from online. Campus should encourage students to study on their own more and teach them to study online. Assessment strategies Campus is conducting three internal exams each year, evaluated papers are returned back to the students for self-evaluation also. Some kind of comparison between the result of board exam and internal exam is also made. Practice should be continued. New Appointment of staff Campus has its own appointment strategy and new staffs are appointed as per the requirement of the campus. Good appointment practice should be continued.
  • 7. 6 | P a g e Research, Consultancy and Extension Research initiation As in Self Study Report 0.27 % of an annual budget is ensured for research initiation. Research budget needs to be increased and well utilized for research promotion, faculty development and academic development. Academic publication Campus has research publication committee .Campus publishes annual magazine “Spandan”, Calendar, Prospectus every year and an academic journal is planned Summary report about the campus, performance of campus should be published annually in the prospectus. Extra Activities Blood donation programs, career development programs, dance competition, training programs for local co-operatives are conducted. Should continue these kinds of activities. Community Participation Adequate community participation has been found. Such practice needs to be continued. More public awareness programs should be organized. Infrastructure and learning resources Laboratory The campus owns computer lab with 20 computers. Campus must facilitate students for maximum utilization of its resources. Atmosphere Atmosphere of the campus for learning is good. Campus is neat and clean with limited area. Maintenance of the existing facilities should be regular. Building and Master plan for the infrastructural development Campus has two building with class rooms and rooms for library, meeting hall, and computer laboratory. Campus should focus more on enriching the physical environment of the campus. Computer facilities Forty five computers are available in the Campus with Internet facility. Effective and proper utilization should be ensured. Library Library maintained with almost 9000 books . Software should be installed. Students should be encouraged to use online libraries. Library should be in sufficient separate space. E-resources E-resources are available. Should continue maintaining and creating new e-resources Departments There are three academic departments. Separate cabins are made for the departments. Departments should be increased as needed.
  • 8. 7 | P a g e Students Support and Guidance Scholarship Scholarships at the Campus are managed according to its institutional rules. Community and faculties are also providing few scholarships for needy students. The provision should be continued. Drinking water, canteen and Rest room A drinking water is available in the Campus. Canteen isn't available. Sufficient rest rooms are maintained in reasonable condition. Develop canteen within the campus premises. Sports facilities Limited space is available in campus for providing sports facilities. Should work on developing sports facilities for students. Placement Cell The Campus has established a placement cell Should continue this cell in future also and also develop further strategies to strengthen this cell to cope with future societal and environment requirements. Counseling Teachers are involved in the career counseling of students. Various types of counseling are very important so campus should continue this work systematically Alumni Association Campus has started to keep records of its alumni and started tracer study. Activate and engage the alumni for the development of the campus. Information System and Public Information Education Management Information System (EMIS) and Database maintenance Software to maintain records of students is installed, web site has been developed. Should develop better understanding about information requirement to implement campus policy. Campus must provide separate room for EMIS section and ensure EMIS system. Distribution of Information Campus has its own website. It provides notices to students through website, TV channels and FM. Campus also published journal and annual reports. Campus should focus on information requirement of public, government, organizations also, and publish information accordingly.
  • 9. 8 | P a g e ECTION D RECOMMENDATIONS The Quality Assurance and Accreditation Pre-visit team is thankful to the all stakeholders of the Campus. The SSR is comprehensive and informative. The various stakeholders of campus including Campus Management Committee (CMC), teachers, students, and non-teaching staff were found to be very participative and responsive during the meeting and very much willing to get QAA certification. The Pre-visit team would like to suggest the Campus to comply with the following recommendations before the PRT visit to the Campus. Priority Recommendations: 1. The Campus should facilitate and encourage the faculty members for higher studies (M. Phil/ PhD) and other professional trainings. 2. The EMIS system should be activated. 3. Display Peer Reviewed Professional Journals in the library. 4. Provision of performance appraisal system must be strengthened; condition for academic promotion of faculties and promotion of non-teaching staffs should be done. 5. For proper integration of teaching and research, teachers should be encouraged to write evidence based cases for use in the classroom. Financial support in the form of seed money should be provided to encourage research activities among teachers. 6. Canteen should be developed with sufficient space. 7. Training opportunities should be provided to the non-teaching faculties. 8. Strengthen the library: introduce bar coding system, manage reading room and add the number of journals and references by changing the library into an e-library system. General Recommendations: 1. DMC needs to introduce some need-based and soft-skill oriented courses for its students. 2. Self-sustaining programs need to be started. 3. The campus should extend its formal relation with different industries and institutions to facilitate practical exposure of students. 4. Use of software in administrative and examination information record keeping is recommended. 5. The rest rooms and campus premises need regular maintenance and cleaning. 6. Facility of internet should be provided to the faculty members and students and in the library. 7. The departments should be separated. 8. Space for sports facilities must be provisioned 9. Teaching learning methodology should be focused on practical aspects. 10. Internal examination must be regular. 11. The campus should have provision for proper emergency health services including sick room. 12. Facilities for student counseling and placement should be in place. A student career counseling cell should be created. 13. The campus should utilize the potential of stakeholders including the alumni for sustainable development.
