2. Rationale for Technology
Integration
• Most individuals believe that math is not used on a
daily basis, but they are misguided, as one paying
attention can find Math, everywhere in our daily
lives. Teachers can use technology to help students
become engaged and understand topics in not only
mathematics, but beyond. We use technology to
help strengthen our understanding about fractions,
to solve problems by watching it as a visual learner,
and to further progress our skills.
• This presentation will show you how teachers can
incorporate blogs, podcasts, videos, movie clips,
applications, SMART Board activities, and interactive
math websites into their lessons. By integrating
technology within the classroom, teachers will better
help students learn the material.
• Using technology helps both teachers and students
to develop skills that are essential for the 21st
century. Technology helps students to think, create,
analyze, evaluate and apply learned information and
skills.
3. Internet Content
• The websites used in this presentation are
proven to be reliable sources. All of
information comes from related websites to
the teaching and the learning of fractions.
• By clicking on the graphics, it will direct you to
the original site. All URL links will be cited in
the notes section as well.
4. Blog
• Cory Howard is the blog author of this site. Students can check out his
blog post on converting a rational number to a decimal by using long
division. Student will learn and know that the decimal form of a rational
number terminates in 0’s or it eventually repeats.
• His video is an example that helps students learn and understand the
topic of improper fractions and mixed numbers by citing numerous
examples. Below the video, Howard has specific resources for the lesson,
such as a Parent Letter, Discussion Protocol, and a notes template.
• Howard is a teacher who is a member of LearnZillion’s Dream Team. It is
a group of extraordinary educators that are selected every year from
around the country to create LearnZillion’s content.
6. Podcast
• This podcast is from The Math Dude Quick
and Dirty Tips To Make Math Easier. The
Math Dude helps students understand math
easier and have fun doing the problems.
• Jason Marshall provides clear explanations
of math terms and teaches helpful tips that
will help any student strengthen their
fundamental skills.
• Both teachers and students can use
podcasts. Teachers can use sections of a
specific podcast in class, or even give a
specific link to students to listen to at home.
Podcasts are great because students can
listen to them at home, at school, or even on
the go.

11. Teaching Materials
• This worksheet will
help students
understand more
clearly about
improper fractions,
mixed numbers, and
more. During class
time, the teacher will
help the students fill
out this worksheet.

worksheet in their
notes and refer back
to it anytime they
need a refresher on
the topic.
12. Teaching Materials
• This worksheet will be for
students to also keep in their
notes. In math, problems do
not just say add, subtraction,
multiply, divide, and equals.
Students need to understand
and learn that there are
different words that mean the
same thing. When a student is
solving a math problem and
they use the word the
difference of the two
numbers, it means subtracting
the two numbers. Sometimes
these math words can be
tricky and this worksheet will
help students remember the
math terms.
13. Teaching Materials
• This is a fun worksheet where students can practice converting
mixed numbers into improper fractions.
• Teachers can use this worksheet as a class assignment, or even
as a quiz to see how many correct answers the students can get
in 5 minutes. By doing this it will help the students think fast and
test their ability skills in the subject.

This video can both be used within a classroom to help connect technology to the core curriculum.
This diagram would be great to use in an actual lesson because it shows students how to change an improper fraction into a mixed number by solving it without using a calculator. Most students depend on calculators and this picture is show that 1 is equal to 5 1/5th and since we need 7/5th you only need 2/5 more. This picture is a neat tool for visual learners because they can see and understand the concept more clearly. Inspiration is used to help strengthen the students technology skills on a specific subject. Using visual concepts is a great learning tool for teachers to use in their lessons for students.
