PRESENTATION

2. INTRODUCTION
National Aluminum Products Company (NAPCO)
• NAPCO was established in 1984. It is regarded as one of the leading aluminum
profile extruders in the GCC market. Its manufactured plant covers over 62000
square meters in Oman's Rusal industrial area.
• The company manufactures a variety of Al profile extrusions finishes that meet the
specifications of modern designs. Its well-known high-quality products influenced the
architectural landscape of the Gulf and the entire Middle East. Their annual
production capacity is 42000 MT, thanks to four European-made extrusion presses.
• In addition to the extrusion presses, there are two powder coating lines (vertical and
horizontal) and one anodizing line with a capacity of 27000 mt per year. Furthermore,
they have two wood finish lines and crimping and bending capabilities They were
also the first to receive ISO certifications and are the Gulf's only limited aluminum
extrusion company.

3. SAFETY GUIDELINES
• The company has many affiliations and laws. The company relies on these laws to be
followed, and the company’s employees must follow all the laws on a regular basis to
avoid accidents and errors. The organization has a set of rules and guidelines that should
be followed as showed below:
• Upon receiving any new batch of new employees or trainees in the company, they must
undergo a safety course.
• If a person wants to put out the fire, the distance between the person and the fire must be
6 steps or more.
• To deal with fire, the wind should be considered (the person who deal with fire should be
his Back to the wind and his face to the fire).
• If a person in the workplace is on fire, we do not use a fire extinguisher or water to save
him it may cause more burns, so they must use fire blanket.

4. SAFETY EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS
• The company distributes safety equipment in the company according to its uses in the
departments. Tools and safety equipment of various types are used in a variety of
projects, and all safety precautions must be taken into account during the construction of
the project, as safety tools and equipment protect workers and contractors alike. Their
use frequently saves lives.
• Types of fire extinguishers that are in (NAPCO).
• CO2
• FOAM
• DRY POWDER
• O2

5. SAFETY TRAINING FOR EMPLOYEES IN (NAPCO)
• The company provides training courses for new employees to raise awareness about the
workplace and the risks and how to deal with them properly. These courses are offered
after separate periods to ensure the quality of employees and awareness in the work
environment. These are some of the courses offered by the company, as shown below:
• basics safety training.
• Firefighting training.
• dinger and accident in workshop.
• toolbox training.
• plan for emergency.

(NAPCO) DEPARTMENTS
• The maintenance department is extremely important to the company, and it is heavily
reliant on it and these are as follows:
• CNC machine
• Maintenance and troubleshooting
• PLC
• Logbooks
• The extrusion presses 1,2,3 and 4
• Run out table (Dies and profile oven)
• Stretching Machine.

7. CHEMICAL DEPARTMENT (ANODIZING / POWDER
COATING)
• Anodizing
• An electrochemical process known as anodizing transforms a metal surface into a
durable, decorative, and resistant to corrosion. finish in anodic oxide. Anodizing aluminum
is a great process, but it can also be done on magnesium and titanium, two nonferrous
metals.
• Powder Coating
• A type of coating known as powder coating is applied as a dry, free-flowing powder.
Powder coating is typically applied electrostatically and then cured with heat or ultraviolet
light, in contrast to conventional liquid paint, which is delivered by means of an
evaporating solvent.

8. THERMAL BREAK AND FABRICATION THERMAL
BREAK AND FABRICATION
• Adding finishing touches to the goods before they are delivered to the client, such as drilling
holes in the components with (polyamide strips) in various shapes, is the responsibility of the
thermal break and fabrication department. They utilize the following equipment to do these
tasks:
• knurling machine
• polyamide strip
• Strip inserting machine
• Crimping machine
• shear force machine
• Punching machine
• CNC Machine
• Cutting machine (2 head)
• Die shop

9. SALES DEPARTMENT
• The sales department is responsible for dealing with customers and companies. NAPCO
provides different services to customers. The customer can choose shapes from abroad
or choose from the shapes that exist in the company. Regarding prices, they vary every
day continuously because it depends on the global market which is London Metal
Exchange (LME). Prices change at the beginning of the day and stop at the end of the
day, at NAPCO they do a monthly average for the price. This section is based and follows
well-studied steps such as:

• Price: depend on (LME)
• Delivery period: The time it takes for the product to be finished and ready for delivery.
• How customer will pay: Will the amount be paid once or in installments.
• Delivery term: If the customer is in another country, will deliver the product by sea or air
depend on the customer.

10. INTERNSHIP ACTIVITIES
The workshop
• I worked with a mechanical technician and an electrical technician during my internship.
• During my time working with the mechanical technician, I learned a lot about four different
extrusion presses and got to see them in action, which gave me a practical idea.
Furthermore, I learned more about the coating lines and witnessed how they operate.
Furthermore, I was able to observe how he maintains a large number of machines in the
factory.
• On the other hand, while working with the electrical technician, I was able to learn more
about electrical issues and how they are resolved.
• Furthermore, I had the opportunity to learn more about PLCs in real life and examine the
ladder diagram of the ladder diagram of the presses

11. • Chemistry Lab
• I was given the opportunity to conduct a chemical experiment in the company's
chemistry lab, but I was notified that I needed to wear a mask and gloves to avoid making
any mistakes. And I observed their daily activities and tests on the chemicals used in the
company.

12. CONCLUSION
• This internship taught me a lot about the industrial sector, particularly production, and how
the factory team works together to achieve the company's mission and vision.
• I learned how to produce in general in the production plant, how to export and import the
company, and how to manage all departments and distribute the agenda in an orderly
manner among the departments.
• Furthermore, having such an experience, even if only for a short time, was a fantastic
benefit for me as an engineer.
