2. What is RE Barcamp? “RE BarCampis an ad-hoc gathering born from the desire for people to share and learn in an open environment. It is an intense event with discussions, demos, and interaction from attendees.” It’s simple.. it’s people meeting people, learning, sharing, gathering, and networking. It is what the attendees make it! National Site: http://www.REBarCamp.com

Asked to speak about the 5Ws and H of a REBAR camp. Let’s get started.
Whew! There is usually a wrap up event after the day. It is another networking opportunity.
Technology Sponsors recognize the need to contribute to these events. Attendees seek them out for business, advice and support after these events. Sponsors garnish credibility, economic benefits and loyalty long after these events.
Presentations vs Attendee driven content. What you need today, may not be the same as what you need tomorrow. The venues generate their own schedules and topics of interest. The attendees are encouraged to participate, to drive their own experience. The beauty is there is no failed discussion if everyone participates. – No association responsibilities – No speaker let down or failure.
Business models and needs have changed with the advent and growth of technology and social networking. Realtors have more demands on them now, and yet more opportunities to grow their businesses than ever before.
There will be people who live for these events, and others who will have never experienced anything like it. Highly technical people and highly motivational, to those who are completely new, and have no experience.Rules just no vendor pimping.People bring whatever they want, notebook, laptops, tech gadgets. The events are casual, and venues usually generate dress codes.
Facilitate and encourage members to make this their venue.Suggest those in your area that are savvy, organized and networked.Provide whatever you can to make it a successful event within your budget.Venues are the hardest thing to acquire, make suggestions, provide support. AV equipment is a plus.Help with advertising and getting word to other members. Newsletters, website widget, association executives.
Help members find others that might want to help them.
