Most people view stray dogs as a menace due to unfortunate dog bite incidents, but dogs usually only bite when provoked, sick, or in pain. Dogs are often social animals that want to communicate, if people are willing to understand them. People generally retaliate against stray dogs through attack, killing puppies, or calling for mass slaughter, but human aggression surpasses that of animals according to studies. While some myths exist like animals can't be trusted or that strays carry rabies, studies show even stray dogs can interpret human body language. There is a need for a more constructive way forward in how humans and strays interact.
