2. In May 2014, FCC Chairman
Tom Wheeler released a plan
that would have allowed
companies like AT&T,
Comcast and Verizon to
discriminate online and create
pay-to-play fast lanes.
Millions of you spoke out —
and fought back.
Thanks to the huge public and
political outcry, Wheeler
shelved his original proposal,
and on Feb. 4, 2015, he
announced that he would base
new Net Neutrality rules on
Title II of the
Communications Act, giving
Internet users the strongest
protections possible.

4. Net neutrality is the principle that Internet service providers and
governments should treat all data on the Internet equally, not
discriminating or charging differentially by user, content, site,
platform, application, type of attached equipment, or mode of
communication.

6. US just won its battle for net neutrality last month. Plus, TRAI is under
pressure from the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), a
telecom industry association that counts Google and Facebook among its
members and is lobbying against net neutrality in the country.

Due to intense lobbying
by telecom operators like
Airtel and Vodafone, the
Telecom Regulatory
Authority of India (TRAI)

websites to extort more
money from consumers
and businesses .

released
a consultation
paper with 20

pages.
