  1. Concept: disadvantaged youth struggle to access sport in all its component parts – they do everything at about half as much as their affluence peers. Be that just taking part, or benefiting from club membership, getting better through coaching or competition. Dis youth volunteer at only half rate of their more affluent peers Here is the problem and the challenges DSC are set to overcome. We need to build a local infrastructure. As you see – to create clubs, volunteers, leaders etc requires a community development approach and therefore while today we are talking about changing sport our very method changes lives and communities too. Really they are inseparable concerns – so far as doorstep sport is concerned. But first – here is the problem when looked at in sporting terms Our job is to respond to this lack of sporting infrastructure. We have to do this – most sport is voluntary sector and this target group especially is not going to be mobilised by commercial sector.
