2. The Giver Advertisement
The main problem is that the residents
of the community no longer experience
any of the most basic emotions of
humanity, nor do they see things in color
(Jonas does see color). Everyone is the
same - there is no variety and no
differences. People have lost the ability
to love or to feel passion or compassion
about anything. On the rare occasions
when emotions do get unleashed on the
community, people find it very hard to
cope with them.
3. Jonas’s solution
The main problem is that people don't have
rights. They can't chose how to live. It is all
decided for them. Their jobs and husband wife is
chosen for them. They can't have children of their
own and they can't decide how many kids to
have(Well, not more than two.). If they want
two, one is to be a girl and the other a boy. There is
no choice there. They can't see colors. They can't
remember the history of the world. They also can't
feel pain. The Giver's job is to basically live while
these people just go through the motions. the
solution was getting rid of The giver, forcing the
people to remember and to live.
