1. José María Rodríguez Madoz (born in 1958, in Madrid), better known as Chema Madoz, is a Spanish photographer, best known for his black and white surrealist photographs. Chema Madoz studied Art History at Complutense University of Madrid between 1980 and 1983. It is here that he was first exposed to the study of photography and imaging. In 1990 he started to work with objects as concepts for their photographs. And in 1991 the National Museum of Art Reina Sofía shows his exposition called : Four directions. In 1998 he published his book called Chema Madoz, where it shows a lot of photographs about different surrealist concepts. A few years after this he started to win a lot of important awards. 2. Since 1990 he has been developing the concept of objects, a subject which would appear constantly in his photography until the present. Madoz’s work approaches the genre of transient sculpture. They are characterized by complete simplicity, always in black and white, with careful lighting the objects photographed are made with exquisite skill. The photographer creates this element of surprise by blending two unrelated objects that share at least one visually similar feature, or by placing an object in visually unexpected setting. Madoz manipulates objects in his studio and assembles them in an unusual way. 3.
