20. A Good Reference to Achieving Sustainable
Growth in ASEAN
It’s a tool to identify opportunities for sustainable growth of
ASEAN.
ASEAN has an estimated population of 600 million.
By 2026, it is estimated that more than half the population
of this growing region will be living in urban centers which
would create issues around food, water, energy, nutrition
and poverty.
Efforts are in place both globally and in ASEAN region to
help enhance food security issues.
21. Collaboration in Action - Malaysia
Collaborated with Nestle Paddy Club (NPC) Malaysia to help
paddy growers in the northern states of Peninsular Malaysia
to protect the environment whilst improving their rice crop.
Set-up DuPont Field School near the paddy field to train and
educate growers on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).
22. Collaboration in Action - Indonesia
Set up Pioneer Learning and Information Center for local
farmers in corn hybrid trial
Launched Hipa 8 and P27 Gajah hybrid corn seed that have
properties such as bigger size, stronger, and resistant to
extreme weather.
Offered technology in packaging to maintain the freshness of
food.
Worked with local formula food and baby milk producers for
Solae® soy protein food to increase availability of nutrient food
President Yudhoyono:
“The country could not rely only on the
expansion of fields to boost food production . . .
We need to make use of technology to increase
productivity.”
23. Collaboration in Action - Philippines
DuPont Pioneer helped growers in the Philippines improve
yield and crop quality by introducing new rice varieties and
rice crop management techniques.
Good Agriculture Practices (GAP)
• Collaborated with Barangay Health Workers on
Emergency Management of Poisoning Cases and
Farmers Safe Use Training (Benquet).
• 5,200 farmers were trained.
• GAP in Mango production to improve safety through
reduced exposure.
24. Collaboration in Action - Thailand
Corn for School Lunch Program
• DuPont donates corn seeds and farming materials as well as
giving agronomy training to rural schools. Income from the

the nutrition quality of the school lunches.
Sustainable Practices for Ethnic Corn Farmers in Northern
Thailand

practices to 40 hill tribe communities of farmers in the north of
Thailand. The farmers can increase yield and get higher
income and better quality of life.
25. Collaboration in Action - Vietnam
Rice-After-Shrimp Farming System
• DuPont developed PHB71, a rice hybrid that can better
withstand salty soil and help increase yield by 30%.
“DuPont Farm Model Project” Launch
• In collaboration with government, local authorities and
farmers, a pilot project will soon be launched to
introduce good farming practices through using DuPont
hybrid seeds and crop protection products.
