3. The Kings KING The KING can move one space in any direction.

4. The Queens The QUEEN can move any number of spaces in any one direction.

5. The Rooks The ROOK can move any number of spaces up, down, left, or right.

6. Knights The KNIGHT moves in an L-shaped pattern. 2 spaces up, down, left, right, and then 1 space to make L-shape. ONLY KNIGHTS can jump over other pieces.

7. Bishops The Bishop moves any number of squares diagonally only.

8. Pawns First Move (2 spaces) PAWNS move FORWARD one square at a time. However, they can move two spaces forward on their first move.

9. Pawns Capture Diagonally The PAWN moves FORWARD one square. However, to capture another piece a pawn must move diagonally.
