7. Objectives
• Focus is on knowledge transfer between academia and
industry
• Support for creation, development and reinforcement
and execution of strategic partnerships, aimed at
knowledge sharing and inter-sector mobility, based on
targeted human resources interaction

Sciences and Humanities
• Bottom-up – no pre-defined topics or priority areas

Pathways (IAPP)
• Minimum configuration is a university and company (one
in Ireland, one abroad)

25. •Development of Foundry Casting Methods for Cost-Effective Manufacture of
Medical Implants
•This project will aim to advance the state of art in investment casting processes for
medical devices by intersectoral cooperation between DePuy Ireland and
University of Birmingham to develop the concept of the automated “Foundry of the
Future”.
• The project will be funded to the value of €1.5million over 4 year period.
• Collaborative Programme between DePuy and UoB, has 7 research
modules/work packets
