The European GNSS Programmes
GALILEO COMMERCIAL SERVICE – NEW BASELINE
• High Accuracy and Authentication: Features confirmed !
• Authentication will be based on a
• Navigation Message Authentication:
• Integrated in the E1 OS. Aimed at consumer users
and offered for free. Testing from mid 2019.
• Commercial Service Authentication: based on the E6C
Spreading Code Encryption.
• High Accuracy will be based on PPP transmission in E6B
and will be provided for free.
• Gradual introduction (regional/global, accuracy target,
convergence time…)
• Interface Control Document under
final consolidation
EGNOS is the European SBAS system augmenting GPS signal over ECAC area.
EGNOS meets stringent Aviation requirements (ICAO) for all phases of flight.
EGNOS might also be used in a wide range of other application domains.
EGNOS is fully interoperable with all other SBAS worldwide. Provides 3 services
(Open Service, Safety of Life, EDAS).

The European GNSS Programmes GALILEO COMMERCIAL SERVICE – NEW BASELINE • High Accuracy and Authentication: Features confirmed ! • Authentication will be based on a • Navigation Message Authentication: • Integrated in the E1 OS. Aimed at consumer users and offered for free. Testing from mid 2019. • Commercial Service Authentication: based on the E6C Spreading Code Encryption. • High Accuracy will be based on PPP transmission in E6B and will be provided for free. • Gradual introduction (regional/global, accuracy target, convergence time…) • Interface Control Document under final consolidation

EGNOS might also be used in a wide range of other application domains. EGNOS is fully interoperable with all other SBAS worldwide. EGNSS & MARKET UPTAKE Status of EGNSS adoption in Transport 9 • IMO recognised Galileo for merchant shipping • IALA published Guidelines for the transmission of SBAS corrections via marine radiobeacons and AIS • 10% Galileo OS penetration in receiver models • 80% EGNOS OS penetration in receivers models • ~60% EU tolled roads take advantage of Galileo/EGNOS in 4 Countries (6 in 2019) • First cars in the market with eCall using Galileo/EGNOS (Volvo and Honda) • Main car makers are testing Galileo in view of the first highly autonomous cars (~ 2021) • 557 EGNOS approaches and more than 26000 LPV capable flights/month • 59 drones receiver models from 14 manufacturers with EGNOS/Galileo in the market. • EU leading aviation beacon manufacturers develop ELT-DT with Galileo • GNSS in non safety relevant applications growing fast • In freight asset management and logistics, GNSS penetrating at the wagon level • In safety relevant applications: Industry progressing with definition of the architecture for GNSS inclusion in ERTMS • End users are showing stronger interest, participating actively to R&D projects and user requirements definition
  • 10. • 28 RTK augmentation service providers have upgraded or started to upgrade to Galileo capabilities • The main PPP providers support Galileo corrections (Fugro (G4), Veripos (APEX), NovAtel (Terrastar) and Trimble (RTX and VRS NOW)) • Over 50% of surveying and mapping receivers are Galileo-capable • Around 80% of mapping and GIS receivers are EGNOS compatible EGNSS & MARKET UPTAKE Status of EGNSS adoption in Agriculture and Surveing 10 Agriculture Surveying • Around 80% of tractors in Europe using GNSS are equipped with EGNOS, the preferred low-cost entry technology for precision farming in Europe • Around 45% of GNSS receivers for agriculture applications are Galileo capable
