If you’re secretly crying out for a security blanket but adhere to a personal and very rigid
interior design aesthetic, the ‘Tie Warmchair’ will provide style as well as physical and
psychological comfort.

2. Designed by Katarina Stavrinou Moleski it’s knitted in organic cotton and wrapped in one
piece around a steel frame. There’s something about its snaky appeal that’s a bit cool (or even
warm) – though also a bit weird. Plus it’s white – that’s a lot of unravelling to get to the
laundry.

3. It’s been done before. In 2013 Polish designer Aga Brzostek created this simply named
‘Autumn/Winter’ blanket chair out of foam shrouded in recycled wool – but let’s face it, she
may be carrying a copy of Vogue but it looks a bit like you just wrapped up your granny.

5. This may be the ultimate ‘furniture as outfit’ chair. The ‘Moody Nest’ designed by Hanna
Emelie Ernsting in 2011 is apparently made for ‘stroppy people’, out of a quilted textile shell
on a foam base. If there’s someone you’d like to cover up and forget for a while, this may be
the ideal buy. Less ‘comfy old dear’, more ‘moody brat’.
Blanket chairs go way back, but they’re normally just that – a chair upholstered in blankets.
This classy creation is an icon of its genre: An ‘Eadie’ armchair decked out in traditional
Welsh ‘Carthern’ blankets, by designer Donna Wilson (who won The British Design Awards
‘Designer of the Year’ in 2010).
