David Lynch (director) comments on how Bacon inspires
him
“Yet one glance at Francis Bacon’s paintings and I am
immediately sent to a place I feel comfortable in. These
are works of hidden identity & the enigma of man and
his touch”
How could his paintings inspire you – do the photos of
him inspire you?
8. Shepard Fairey: personality and
politics
The Tyrant Boot print was inspired by the Frederick Douglas
quote “The limits of tyrants are prescribed by the endurance of
those whom they oppress”. Frederick Douglas, an African
American, was a leader of the Abolitionist Movement. He was
a firm believer in the equality of all people, whether black,
woman, Native American, or recent immigrant. He was fond of
saying, “I would unite with anybody to do right and with nobody
to do wrong.”
