Context
As we’re moving away from the Industrial-Era
classroom, new models for learning are
emerging. From the “flipped classroom” to
MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses),
technology and pedagogy are intersecting in
potentially interesting ways.
Summary
This session focuses on an approach to
teaching which benefits from online
interactions. By playing the role of a
community manager, a teacher can use
forums and other simple tools to broaden
learning experiences and, hopefully, enhance
learner engagement.
Learning Objectives
1. Imagine opportunities for transforming a
class into a community.
2. Conceive of pedagogical implications behind
online discussions.
3. Create appropriate expectations as to the
use of technology in teaching.
