The southwest monsoon's progress has slowed down as it has not made
any progress for the past five days, the weathermen today said. "For the
fifth consecutive day, the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) has not made
any advancement. It continues to pass through Veraval, Surat, Ujjain,
Narsinghpur, Raipur, Kalingapatnam, Krishnanagar and Darjeeling."The
cyclonic circulations in the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea are still in
the process of getting organised. Only after the weather systems organise
that we can expect NLM to advance further."Monsoon usually arrives in
Bihar by June 10 and over east Uttar Pradesh by June 15 but with NLM
remaining static, further delay is expected in the onset of monsoon over
these areas," Skymet, a private weather forecasting agency said. However,
next week could see some respite from the heat as monsoon is again
expected to become active."The movement of monsoon is not like a train.
It does experience some phases of lull. But it is expected to get active by
next week," India Meteorological Department (IMD) Director General
Laxman Singh Rathore said.
Odisha government is going to launch the 'Bank on Wheels' to help
farmers get loans on their doorstep. Twenty vans with ATM facility will
move around 20 remote and tribal pockets in Keonjhar, Koraput,
Kalahandi, Mayurbhanj, Sundargarh and Sambalpur districts for the
purpose. The Centre has provided Rs 6 crore, at the rate of Rs 30 lakh for
each vehicle, to agriculture department for the scheme under Rashtriya
Krishi Bikas Yojana. "The scheme will be launched in August," said
Tushar K Panda, managing director, Odisha State Cooperative Bank
(OSCB), which will facilitate launch of the vans.
 According to Gujarat government data released on 19th Jan 15, Jeera
recorded 2.64 lakh hac, 42% less sowing compared to last year’s 4.54
lakh hac. According to latest spice board press release, cumin export is
stood at 155,500 tonnes for 2014-15 period and earned foreign exchange
worth Rs 1,838.20 crore while in 2013-14, the figures stood at 121,500
tonnes valued at Rs 1,600 crore. At Unjha market in Mehsana arrivals
were reported at 3000 quintals, lower by 1000 quintals from previous
day’s arrivals. At Rajkot market sources reported arrivals at 270 quintal,
up by 60 quintal as compared to previous day. At New Delhi market
sources reported arrivals at 5000 quintals, higher by 1000 quintals as
compared to previous day.
NCDEX Chana futures plummeted even as spot market witnessed a
steady undertone. Thebenchmark NCDEX July futures fell in negative
right at the start and extended losses astraders eyed the expiry of the near
month futures. The Spot Chana hovered around Rs 4500per quintal in
Delhi in early moves but fell in the afternoon as traders eyed
theextremely bearish cues from the futures. The recent hike in the pulses
MSP is unlikely tohave a major impact on the short term and traders are
expected to buy Chana in case pricesdrop further. The overall demand
pattern for ready daals is good as market gets ready forthe Ramadan.
The sowing of turmeric is expected to pick up gradually as rains in
growing areas in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu keep possibilities of
improved sowing. Sowing of Turmeric in AP for the 2014-15 season is
reported at 0.13 lakh ha, as against 0.1 lakh ha last year. The area in
Telangana stood at 0.446 lakh ha against 0.431 lakh ha last year.As per
Spice board of India, the export for the 2014-15 is 86,000 tonnes worth
Rs 744.35 crore compared to 77,500 tonnes and Rs 666.75 crore in
FY14.

CASTORSEED ARRIVALS AT KEY SPOT
MARKET
National Market Update
Castor Oil (First Grade) FOB Kandla (Export) quotes decreased
considerably by $15 per tonne in last one week. It has moved down from
$1305 to $1290 per tonne. It is almost 8 percent lower from last week. It was
ruling at $1445 per tonne in June 2014. Castor FOB Kandla price in May 2015
was ruling at $1200.
Castor meal export was registered at9185.19 tonne in the first week of June
at an Ave FOB price of $123 per T. The highest and lowest quotes were seen in
$196 and $101.98 per T. Export volume has decreased from last week.
Agriculture statistics Division, DES has released Third Adv estimates of
Production of foodgrains for 2014-15 on 13.05 2015.It has revised castor
production estimate down by 87 thousand tonne to 18.24 lakh tonne. In second
Adv Est. castor production was estimated at 19.11 lakh tonne. The minor
decrease in third Adv . Est is mainly attributed to inclement weather and yield
loss.
Cash market could not sustain its uptrend and decreased against normal
expectation due to favourable condition for monsoon advancement. Good
rainfall in Gujarat so far has increased better sowing prospect. More dip in
cash market is expected in the near term.
Castor meal export during 25 to 30 may,2015 was registered at 850.4 tonne
at average FOB quote of $118 per tonne. Major buyer was Taiwan. Meal has
been shipped from Mundra port.
Castor oil in Rotterdam increased from $1434 to $1574 per tonne in last one
week and may trade up in the weeks ahead.
