What does this graph say? In fact 20% of learning impact is created by formal learning events. The remaining 80% learning impact takes place in informal learning processes (consulting colleagues, searching for content from behind your desk, reading magazines, trial and error from behind your desk).
So the conclusion in fact is that, although training organizations and trainers tend to think in formal learning events only, the area with the most learning impact is the informal learning part. And that takes place from behind your desk. So the question is how can we play a more facilitating role in informal learning processes.
