finally opens up
to me

2. Its different now. I am no longer
“Mommys Little Girl”. I have to
financially support myself . I'm glad I
stood up for love, the love i had
encounterd. My mother might have
not approved of me turning lesbian
and moving in with my girlfriend, but
I'm finally happy. I'm learning and
growing as each day passes by. I
know I'm not perfect but I have
someone special to share my life
with.
3. My name is Jazmin Morales, I am 21 years of
age, a licensed Nurse and I have a beautiful
girlfriend named Cynthia Garcia. I attend Los
Angeles Valley college, I am a full time
student and I work full time with elders that
have mental disabilities. My life has changed
dramatically over the past year and I couldn't
be happier.
4. I recently moved in with my girlfriend
and left my mothers house. I have
someone to come home to every
single night and I could say that I have
much more responsibilities. I have to
provide for myself and also make sure
my girlfriend is happy. I have to pay
rent, buy groceries and pay different
kinds of bills, but instead of living with
my mom, I live with my girlfriend.
5. My responsibilities include alot more
house chores and cooking. I can say I am
not that great at cooking, but everyday
that passes by I am learning and my
girlfriend doesn't seem to complain.
6. We have our bill payments marked on
the calendar. We both pay an equal
amount of the payments. For example, I
pay Octobers monthly rent and Cynthia
pays November. When our cell phone
payment is due we both pay $65.00 a
month. We also mark down our
anniversary date to make sure we
celebrate it and just in case Cynthia
forgets.
7. She makes me feel special, loved and missed.
When I come home from work, Cynthia leaves me
romantic love notes, cards, and occasionally hot
cheetos. She knows how much I love food. You
can say Cynthia completes me. Although my
culture background and my own mother
disapproving my love life, its been hard, but even
that can not stop my heart from beating and loving
her.
8. She’s my best friend,
girlfriend, soul mate and my
lover. The one that can
fight with me and get angry
but still help me do my
homework.
9. “I want people to know that I do
not want no boys/ men in my
bedroom “ .
-Jazmin Morales
10. This is the first artwork Cynthia
ever gave to me. It symbolises
beautiful women, different
artwork but all beautiful. It
means alot to me because it
was the first picture we hung
up in our new home, and
because we express ourselves
as proud lesbian women.
11. She owns half of my heart. She makes me a better person,
she helps me strive for the absolute best. We disagree and
make up like any other couple, we love just like everyone
else does. My life has changed since I came out of the
closet, (being lesbian) but having Cynthia by my side makes
life a lot more easier. Im grateful for having Cynthia show
me what “Love” is. Love is patience, kind, genuine,
accepting each others flaws and forgiving each other.
12. I learned friends come and go for different
reasons, but Im glad I stayed around for this long.
We never really talked about her turning lesbian
on me until this day, she even brought her
girlfriend into my interview. I learned how much
pain she had to go through since she left her
mothers house, and had no choice but to be
independent. How fighting for her love has kept
her strong. I heard her explain herself to me,
something we had never done. Her love, cultural,
beliefs and sexual preference has changed but in
this interview I realised she is still the same goofy,
lovable, hard working, beautiful Jazmin I had met
4 years ago.
