This document discusses alternatives to conventional agriculture that are more sustainable and community-focused. It proposes agroecology using multicropping instead of monocropping to preserve biodiversity. Small farmers struggle with the costs of organic certification, so the document suggests trust-based community certification instead. A community/farmer-led approach can identify best agroecological practices and collectively promote local food sovereignty. Strengthening links between producers and consumers through local marketing systems is recommended.
