A leader has several types of power in an organization, including legitimate power from their authority over resources, reward power to grant pay increases and promotions, and coercive power to use threats or force if needed. However, coercive power can have negative side effects. The most effective leaders possess expert power from their skills and knowledge, referent power from being respected for their qualities and expertise, and charismatic power to influence followers through personal magnetism and enthusiasm.

Power is an important aspect of
organizations. It is the ability to exercise
control over the subordinates.

3. •A leader has legitimate power which is
the same as authority used to control and
utilize organizational resources

rewards, pay raise, promotions
and bonus etc.

5. • He needs to use coercive power as well. Coercive
power is meant to use force or threats to make
somebody to do something against his will. While
the coercive power may be effective, but it has side
effects as well.

based on his expert skills and
knowledge.

7. •It is the referent power of a leader that he
is respected based on his good qualities or
expert power or good demeanor.

8. •A good leader has charismatic power to
influence his followers. It is personal
magnetism that attracts the
subordinates, inspires enthusiasm and
interest towards zest for working.
