Data set: Indonesian poverty level and crime levels provided by BPS (Indonesian Central Bureau of Statistics).
In this presentation, I explain how simple it is to create multi-layered geo visualization using Tableau.
7. Edit Your First Sheet
Go to Sheet 1 using the menu bar in the bottom.
8. Create Our First Charts
Use the fields from the left pane and the chart types on the
right. Try to give your sheet a name.
9. Add The Second Data Set
Use kemiskinan_provinsi.csv as our 2nd data set. Add
“provinsi” fields from both data set to the join condition.
Create a new sheet.
10. Set “Provinsi” As Geographic Data
Right click on “Provinsi” field (any of them), and choose
[Geographic role] and then [State/Province] options.
11. Modify Geographic Data
Click “31 unknowns” on the bottom right of the screen. Choose [Edit Locations], and
then change the [Country/Region] to “Indonesia”.
Then modify 2 missing provinces. Type in “Yogyakarta” and “Bangka-Belitung” in
their respective fields.
12. Play Around With The Map
Drag and drop “Kemiskinan” field to the [Marks] and choose
a color to start.
13. Duplicate Latitude or Longitude
CTRL-Drag the Latitude field on the [Rows] section. Notice
that you’ll have 2 maps now.
14. Set The New Latitude/Longitude as Dual Axis
Notice that you’ll have 2 small tabs inside the [Marks] pane
and you’ll see one map only.
15. Change One Metrics to Kejahatan
In One of The Tabs, Change “Kemiskinan” fields to
“Kejahatan”. Drag “Kejahatan” field to [Color] and [Size]
buttons.
Change the visualization type to Circle.
