4. SEBI Warns AMCs to Act Against Dubious Groups on
Telegram Posing as Fund Houses
- Warning comes in the wake of instances where investors were defrauded by these
telegram groups.
- Many of these telegram groups having a user base ranging from 50,000 to 100,00 users
are adopting various methods to con investors by posing as registered AMCs.
- SEBI has informed AMCs to take appropriate action against such groups by publicising
their fraudulent activities and filing a police complaint.

5. SEBI Introduces Credit Rating Based Single Issuer
Limits for Actively Managed Debt Funds
- As per the new rule, actively managed debt funds will have to limit their exposure in AA
rated instruments to 8% and to 6% in instruments rated below A.
- Furthermore, AMCs have been directed to not invest more than 10% of their NAV in AAA
rated debt and money market securities from a single issuer.
- The above investment limits may be extended up to 2% of the NAV of the scheme with prior
approval from the AMC’s board of trustees and directors.
- Similar caps were introduced for debt ETFs and passive funds in May 2022. Now these
extend to also include actively managed debt funds.

6. Ahead of Budget 2023, AMFI Asks Govt for Preferential
Tax Treatment for Gold ETFs/FOFs
- AMFI proposed the Long-Term Capital Gains taxation of Gold ETFs/ FOF to be reduced
from 20% with indexation to 10%.
- AMFI also suggested to have the holding period to avail Long Term Capital Gains to be
reduced from 3 years to a year.
- AMFI believes its proposals will be line with the government’s broader agenda to
discourage investments in physical gold/ jewellery and to boost the financialization of
gold.

7. NFOs Launched This Week
- Baroda BNP Paribas launches a Multi Asset Fund. The scheme seeks to achieve long term
capital growth by investing in equities ranging between 65-80%, 10-25% in fixed income and
gold ETFs and up to 10% in units of REITs and INVITs.
- The scheme will be benchmarked against a customised index comprising of 65% in Nifty 500
TRI, 20% in Nifty Composite Debt Index and 15% in the INR price of Gold.
- NFO opened on the 28th of Nov and will close on the 12th of December.
- IIFL MF launches IIFL ELSS Nifty 50 Tax Saver Index Fund. The NFO opened on the 1st of
December and will close on the 21st of December.

8. Other News
- EU’s price cap on Russian Crude ($60 per barrel) backed by G7 kicks in today. This coincides
with EU’s boycott of Russian Oil.
- Air Quality Panel bans non-essential construction work in Delhi-NCR to combat severe air
pollution in the region.
- Iran stops the purchase of Indian tea and Basmati. Indian exporters believe this is in
response to the closure of shops, hotels and markets in Iran given its ongoing anti-hijab
protests.
- E-commerce and Food Tech firms are the key drivers in the sale of Electric 2 and 3 wheelers
in November.
