                           ‘Culture Shock’
e.g. (a). students must humbly obey their teachers’ directions and
   remain silent during the class
(b). students are allowed to criticize or even contradict their teacher
(c). a prayer in the classroom may be acceptable, while in another it
   may be forbidden

A diverse student population on campuses helps some American realize
   that the ‘American way’ is not the only way of life.

Some communities have adult schools as well as
two-year colleges
 to receive specific vocational training that will
assist them in their jobs
to pursue interests for which they were too
busy when they were young

• Students participation is not only accepted but
  also expected in most subjects.
• Course organization:
  – Classroom discussion
  – Students question
  – Informal lecturers

The Teacher-Student Relationship
• It is derived from the belief of the instructors (teachers
  or lecturers) that the responsibility for learning lies with
  the students.
• The environment of classroom is an informal relaxed
  classroom.
• It is common that the students and their instructors
  have a friendly and easygoing relationship.
• The instructors have several roles in relation to
  students; they maybe counselors and friends as well as
  teachers.
