impact on their lives
Introduction
The internet has changed and grown since it was first created back in
the 1960’s. Today we look at how this has impacted consumers lives.
Access to the
Internet
There are currently
over 4 billion people
worldwide using the
internet right now.
Since 2005 you can
see how much
consumers have
increased the
internet usage. Number of internet users worldwide from 2005 to 2018
(in millions)
Access to the Internet
With mobile and fixed
internet speeds increasing it
means people can access a
lot more information in a
small amount of time
Digital Devices Used
by Audience
Now we have created digital devices such as laptops,
smartphones, iPads, watches, game consoles and many
more. However, the mobile phone is the most popular
device.
Searching for
Information
Customers use many
different platforms to
search for
information, these
include website
browsers, apps,
social media, text,
email and many
more. How different generations search for information
Online Purchases
In a recent study, it was shown
that 51% of customers in the UK
prefer to shop online rather than
shop in a store.
Online Video
Consumption
Mobile phones have expanded
the viewing of online video
A part of videos being easily
shared from person to person is
from social media platforms.
According to Cisco by 2022,
online videos will make up
more than 82% of all consumer
internet traffic which is 15
times higher than it was in
2017. (Cisco, 2019)
Consumer
Trends
The constant development in technology has led to devices
being more widely accessible and desired by consumers. You
can purchase a device from a store or online. The most
popular device being the mobile phone.
The mobile phone has created the ability to access the
internet on the go which has meant people are more inclined
to use a mobile phone more than any other device.
The growth of the internet has created more online
purchasing for most consumers, you can purchase pretty
much anything online from all over the world.
Due to the increase of social media such as Facebook and
Instagram and video platforms such as Netflix and YouTube
online video consumption has had a massive increase.
Summery
• The evolution of the internet has had a massive impact on how
consumers use technology during their daily lives. Consumers now
have access to all information they could ever need. The world is now
turning towards a more digital life as you can now purchase
everything from clothes to food online. With technology always
moving forward at a fast pace it is going to become more and more
involved in their lives.

  • 2. Introduction The internet has changed and grown since it was first created back in the 1960’s. Today we look at how this has impacted consumers lives.
  • 3. Access to the Internet There are currently over 4 billion people worldwide using the internet right now. Since 2005 you can see how much consumers have increased the internet usage. Number of internet users worldwide from 2005 to 2018 (in millions)
  • 4. Access to the Internet With mobile and fixed internet speeds increasing it means people can access a lot more information in a small amount of time
  • 5. Digital Devices Used by Audience Now we have created digital devices such as laptops, smartphones, iPads, watches, game consoles and many more. However, the mobile phone is the most popular device.
  • 6. Searching for Information Customers use many different platforms to search for information, these include website browsers, apps, social media, text, email and many more. How different generations search for information
  • 7. Online Purchases In a recent study, it was shown that 51% of customers in the UK prefer to shop online rather than shop in a store.
  • 8. Online Video Consumption Mobile phones have expanded the viewing of online video A part of videos being easily shared from person to person is from social media platforms. According to Cisco by 2022, online videos will make up more than 82% of all consumer internet traffic which is 15 times higher than it was in 2017. (Cisco, 2019)
  • 9. Consumer Trends The constant development in technology has led to devices being more widely accessible and desired by consumers. You can purchase a device from a store or online. The most popular device being the mobile phone. The mobile phone has created the ability to access the internet on the go which has meant people are more inclined to use a mobile phone more than any other device. The growth of the internet has created more online purchasing for most consumers, you can purchase pretty much anything online from all over the world. Due to the increase of social media such as Facebook and Instagram and video platforms such as Netflix and YouTube online video consumption has had a massive increase.
  • 10. Summery • The evolution of the internet has had a massive impact on how consumers use technology during their daily lives. Consumers now have access to all information they could ever need. The world is now turning towards a more digital life as you can now purchase everything from clothes to food online. With technology always moving forward at a fast pace it is going to become more and more involved in their lives.
