Barebones.
I’m an ordinary fellow, often perceived to be quite the opposite. I can make you laugh, make you cry, argue you
with baffling logic that will blow your mind; debate and negotiate with a firm hand yet, utilise diplomacy and
tact, etiquette and gentility to influence a favourable outcome. A sharp mind, witty too; a relatively modest
individual in some respects; stern, direct and resilient in others. Straight forward always, sincere, reliable,
punctual, never missing an opportunity to better myself and further enrich the lives of those around me.
Cheeky, charming and confident also, exploring humility to unintentionally supplement my self-development.
It isn’t something I work at; it is a natural ability sustained purely by my experience of people and work; events,
public houses, theatre and life. Supermarkets, street walking with the dog. Restaurants, cafes, shopping malls
and music halls. Communicating successfully at all levels, across differing cultures, generations, opening social
barriers with everyday chit chat or conversing about the moon, the sky and why it is blue; the workings of the
universe or why the coffee machine is broken and which part needs to be fixed or replaced. A solution provider,
content compiler, data designer with a passion for order and clarity. A mental motivator enjoying imaginative
writing, photographic manipulation, creative arts and their realization from pen to presentation. Dealing with
technical details, budget requirements, staffing issues, and the endless organizational and tedious but necessary
tasks to complete the assignment. Often demanding perfection but knowing the project limitations.
I have opinions, a person is useless without them. My opinions can be quite strong if inspired or fuelled by
provocation. I have no urge to impart that information unless encouraged to do so by an obviously interested
party. Naturally, we all equally have something to offer. It needn’t be strong as long as it has impact.
I don’t like noisy dogs but I sometimes have to tolerate them. Crying babies irritate me and hate ignorance and
division but they are realities of life; influencing mood and fluctuations of temperament, they must be dealt with
sympathetically. I won’t be that guy to talk of football or TV soaps and quiz shows; or listen to your whinging
over work colleagues and how they don’t understand your needs and make your life difficult; I don’t have the
patience for that trivial nonsense; my patience would be better spent on developing subject matter to alleviate
those issues. If you are unable to express your indifference, you are either in the wrong crowd and need to learn
to adapt or you aren’t asserting your authority effectively. Strength of character is a vital element to modern
living. Working in a group requires a special blend of tolerance and acumen. An ability to relate, the willingness
to compromise when the need arises. Obviously, if you don’t have either, you are going to struggle but even in
struggle there is knowledge to be gained; lessons to be learned if you are prepared to be humble and give a little.
Of course there will be competition, there has to be, it is human nature to better oneself. A good tip is not to
allow your ego to inform your intention. Taking control is not the answer. Again, you either have it or you
don’t; inability to articulate perpetuates weakness of mind; it destroys a person from within, bringing them
down, lowering their self-esteem to such a level of sensitivity whereby they become susceptible to the perceived
illusion of a superior intellect. A person’s absence of confidence often stems from their lack of vocabulary thus
permitting this intrusion. Their inability to fulfil a goal or attain an intended level of personal performance has a
similar effect; a comparison is made, the individual begins to examine an influential colleague or role model,
assessing their strengths, identifying their own inherent weaknesses, it is healthy, facilitating development and
strengthening the character. Supportive people only appear to personify that role due to the disposition of the
needy individual. Support is within everyone with an ear to listen and appreciate the underlying causes.
I don’t advocate positivity neither do I disparage the opposite, they are essential ingredients to well-being and a
balanced view; informing decisions, making evident other aspects that promote fresh ideas to contribute,
instigate and ultimately execute the final conclusion. The end of the show. The launching of a new product etc.
Communication and maintaining an open mind are key. As is knowing when to stop.
Written without doubt…..
F. Blunt.
Inclined to stimulate a variation in the direction of the challenging world in which we live.
