Hello, and welcome to today's presentation; where we will discuss the secret role of ERP in the retail innovation era. My name is Chris Benner... (CLICK)
Before we jump into some of the innovation trends impacting retail today, let’s take a quick look at some of the business process fundamentals needed to support that innovation. At the top of this slide are 5 major pillars supporting retail operations. (Name the pillars) Each of these pillars are at the core of what retailers do every day to bring their products to market and satisfy customer demand. At the bottom of the slide are key components of NetSuite’s ERP solution that help retailers improve their performance in each of these pillars. From our cloud-based unified platform, to real-time visibility and a 360° view of the customer, to seamless omnichannel commerce and accurate inventory – these components provide a stable/modern platform for innovation. When a retailer struggles in any of these processes with things like disparate systems and bad data, it becomes almost impossible to be innovative and stay modern. With these key components of ERP in mind, let’s look at some of the top trends in retail today… (CLICK)
Here, I've listed 10 trends that we're all familiar with. "Clicks to bricks" is the growing trend of ecommerce retailers investing in brick & mortar stores. There are several trends related to the changing environment with physical stores. Things like: using stores as fulfillment centers. We see more and more retailers offering services like buy online pickup in store. All of these trends tie back to bringing an innovative and exciting shopping experience to our customers. The one trend I want to spend a little more time on is the generation "Z" shopper. How are these younger shoppers impacting retail? And, as retailers, what do we need to do to satisfy changing consumer shopping habits. And, what roll does a modern ERP system play in delivering these trends? (CLICK)
So, first, let's define who generation Z is. (CLICK). Generation Z is defined as those between roughly 9 to 24 years old. They are a truly "digital native" generation – meaning they've grown up having access to the internet and all of the hardware and software that leverages the internet. This access to modern technology forms their expectations of how they will interact and shop with retailers. This is a game changer for retailers of all sizes. To keep up with these expectations; as well as competition from companies like Amazon (and others), retailers have to be agile, modern, and seamless in how they interact with consumers. Let's look at some of the key expectations gen Z shoppers have when shopping today. (CLICK)
These numbers come from a study of gen Z shoppers published on the National Retail Federation website. The first thing to point out here is that gen Z shoppers ultimately want speed and flexibility when shopping. 49% say they want to find what they're looking for quickly. And, they want the flexibility to decide how and where to shop. So, delivering a seamless shopping experience across any and all channels if vital. (CLICK)
The numbers on the right really highlight the "digital native" aspect of this generation. They are wanting to use modern technology like augmented reality, 3D printers, and even robotics to help them make fast and efficient decisions on what to buy. This is exactly where a modern ERP is going to be vital for retailers trying to execute on any of these innovative strategies. The only thing worse than not being able to offer these modern services; is trying to offer them and failing on the execution. A modern ERP with accurate and real-time data gives retailers a solid platform to successfully execute any of these innovative solutions. (CLICK)
This is one of the greatest strengths of NetSuite's cloud-based ERP solution. NetSuite was the first cloud-based company; and is now the world's #1 cloud-based ERP solution. We offer retailers an agile and modern ERP system, running on a single/unified platform. (CLICK)
NetSuite was built from the ground up as a cloud solution to help businesses run better. To this day, every NetSuite customer is running on the exact same version of the software – the current version. And, every customer takes two major updates per year. This slide highlights the fact that all of these ERP capabilities are built on top of a single unified platform. Everything from seamless omnichannel selling (in the middle of the slide), to global financials, and core retail functions like item and inventory management, order management, pricing and promotions, and even marketing and warehouse management. All built on a single database – which provides true 'single version of the truth' in real-time. This is how ERP plays a secret role in the retail innovation era. NetSuite's ERP provides the solid foundation that enables retailers to execute the strategies their customers demand. (CLICK)
And... Just a few key takeaways from today's presentation... (CLICK)
NetSuite's cloud-based ERP delivers an agile and modern solution, built on a single unified platform. Which helps retailers drive innovation and satisfy customers. (CLICK)
Now that we’ve discussed some of the many benefits of NetSuite’s unified platform, let’s jump into a live demo so you can see it in action.
