Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen,
Good afternoon dear Asian Girl Rights Ambassadors,
It is great to see you and meet you all here in beautiful Taiwan.

Firstly, I would like to introduce you myself very briefly. My name is Tserenbaljir
Mandakh. You can call me Tseenee. I am 18 years old and I have a daughter who is 1.5
year old now. She is my angel. Now, I am undergraduate student of History and
Chinese language at the National University of Mongolia.
Previously, I was a client of the Princess center. At that time, social workers of the
Princess center helped a lot to get over my problems. I have been involving in various
educational trainings and community activities organized by the center and I also made
a lot of new friends. After, I have decided to join the Young Mothers’ Club next to the
center in order to help other teenage mothers like me who face problems. Now, I have
elected as a Coordinator of the Club.

It might be interesting for you all that “what does the Young Mothers’ Club do?”. Our
club was established in 2012 under the initiative of the Princess center for the protection
of girls and young women’s rights. It is young mother-led and young women’s
participatory club which consisted of 56 teenage mothers aged 15-20 years old based in
Ulaanbaatar city. The Young Mothers’ Club aims to make an activism for protecting
teenage and young mothers’ rights by way of empowering them and developing their
leadership skills. We organize various activities such as discussions, educational
trainings and community activities fortnightly for the empowerment of club members.
We also run awareness raising campaigns and implement projects for the protection of
young mothers’ rights.

I also would like to give you brief information about teenage pregnancy in my country.
Every year, approximately 8000 teenage girls aged 15-19 years old become pregnant.
And 44 percent of them choose abortion and 56 percent of them choose to give birth.

In my opinion, becoming pregnant and giving birth is not only women’s choice and
responsibility. Unfortunately, most of teenage mothers are bringing up their kids by
their own, without any support and assistance. The graph on the screen shows that 63
percent of total teenage mothers are single. Looking at this percentage, there is a
question. Where are fathers? But, we don’t know.

Of course, being a mother, teenage and single is challenging. It is not easy and we face
numerous problems every day. For example,







Some of us drop out of their secondary schools due to early pregnancy.
Some of us cannot continue their education due to the lack of public child
care service.
Some of us live in vulnerable condition because of unemployment.
Some of us cannot receive equal reproductive health service because of
unfriendly relationship.
Some of us become a victim of unwanted pregnancy due to sexual abuse.
Some of us unable to walk-out with their children because of discrimination
against them.

However, teenage mothers face drop out of school, unemployment, unfriendly services,
sexual abuse and various discrimination, we didn’t give up. I think that we have to
change this unfriendly environment and loveless situation. I believe that anyone cannot
delegate us and cannot talk about our problems. I believe that only we can be our own
voice. I also believe that we can be strong and empowered in order to fight for our
rights.
For this reason, I carry out the following activities together with other young mothers
and sisters at the Princess center.
As a coordinator of the club, I think that I have to be a strong and powerful voice of
other teen mothers in my country. That’s why I am here in Taiwan and becoming a
voice of Mongolian teen mothers at the regional level. I also pay attention to the
expansion of membership of the club through online and offline activities. Seeking and
reaching out to teen mothers is one of the main responsibilities of my work. I also focus
on ensuring active participation of club members and contributing to ensure club
sustainability. Moreover, we pay high attention on helping teen mothers to be more
confident, powerful and active in their life. Furthermore, one of the main activities of
our club is to provide systemic human rights education to members. Through this
educational program, we unite them for girls’ rights.

In the future, I am planning to do more for the advancement of girls’ rights. I would like
to share some of my future plans with you.

In the beginning of 2014, our club and the Princess center are planning to organize The
First Forum of Young Mothers in Mongolia. Teenage and young mothers will discuss
their problems and needs during this forum. I am also planning to work for raising
awareness of “Age of consent” amongst teen population. Due to the lack of
understanding about the “Age of consent”, teenage boys and girls face various sexual
health problems such as early sexual intercourse, sexually transmitted diseases, unsafe
abortion and unwanted pregnancy. Furthermore, I will focus on decreasing abortion
rate amongst teenage girls and young women by way of organizing friendly trainings
and awareness raising activities based on their sexual and reproductive rights.
Additionally, I will work for creating friendly environment for girls and teen mothers.

Like other girls, I like to dream, because it is costless. I have 5 dreams regarding my
work on fighting for teenage mothers’ rights.
My first dream is to make a strong activism of teenage and young mothers at the
national level. The second one is to make our club a good and successful example of
Young mothers’ Activism at the regional level. My third dream is to call teenage
mothers of other Asian countries to be a part of our activism. The next one is to organize
the Regional Forum of teenage and young mothers and share experiences. And my last
dream is to establish a network of regional teenage mothers.
I know that my dreams are real dreams and they will be come true.

View PPT of Tserenbaljir Mandakh here. *** Good afternoon Ladies and Gentlemen, Good afternoon dear Asian Girl Rights Ambassadors, It is great to see you and meet you all here in beautiful Taiwan. Slide 2 Firstly, I would like to introduce you myself very briefly. My name is Tserenbaljir Mandakh. You can call me Tseenee. I am 18 years old and I have a daughter who is 1.5 year old now. She is my angel. Now, I am undergraduate student of History and Chinese language at the National University of Mongolia. Previously, I was a client of the Princess center. At that time, social workers of the Princess center helped a lot to get over my problems. I have been involving in various educational trainings and community activities organized by the center and I also made a lot of new friends. After, I have decided to join the Young Mothers’ Club next to the center in order to help other teenage mothers like me who face problems. Now, I have elected as a Coordinator of the Club. Slide 3 It might be interesting for you all that “what does the Young Mothers’ Club do?”. Our club was established in 2012 under the initiative of the Princess center for the protection of girls and young women’s rights. It is young mother-led and young women’s participatory club which consisted of 56 teenage mothers aged 15-20 years old based in Ulaanbaatar city. The Young Mothers’ Club aims to make an activism for protecting teenage and young mothers’ rights by way of empowering them and developing their leadership skills. We organize various activities such as discussions, educational trainings and community activities fortnightly for the empowerment of club members. We also run awareness raising campaigns and implement projects for the protection of young mothers’ rights. Slide 4 I also would like to give you brief information about teenage pregnancy in my country. Every year, approximately 8000 teenage girls aged 15-19 years old become pregnant. And 44 percent of them choose abortion and 56 percent of them choose to give birth.
  • 2. Slide 5 In my opinion, becoming pregnant and giving birth is not only women’s choice and responsibility. Unfortunately, most of teenage mothers are bringing up their kids by their own, without any support and assistance. The graph on the screen shows that 63 percent of total teenage mothers are single. Looking at this percentage, there is a question. Where are fathers? But, we don’t know. Slide 6 Of course, being a mother, teenage and single is challenging. It is not easy and we face numerous problems every day. For example,       Some of us drop out of their secondary schools due to early pregnancy. Some of us cannot continue their education due to the lack of public child care service. Some of us live in vulnerable condition because of unemployment. Some of us cannot receive equal reproductive health service because of unfriendly relationship. Some of us become a victim of unwanted pregnancy due to sexual abuse. Some of us unable to walk-out with their children because of discrimination against them. Slide 7 However, teenage mothers face drop out of school, unemployment, unfriendly services, sexual abuse and various discrimination, we didn’t give up. I think that we have to change this unfriendly environment and loveless situation. I believe that anyone cannot delegate us and cannot talk about our problems. I believe that only we can be our own voice. I also believe that we can be strong and empowered in order to fight for our rights. For this reason, I carry out the following activities together with other young mothers and sisters at the Princess center. As a coordinator of the club, I think that I have to be a strong and powerful voice of other teen mothers in my country. That’s why I am here in Taiwan and becoming a voice of Mongolian teen mothers at the regional level. I also pay attention to the expansion of membership of the club through online and offline activities. Seeking and
  • 3. reaching out to teen mothers is one of the main responsibilities of my work. I also focus on ensuring active participation of club members and contributing to ensure club sustainability. Moreover, we pay high attention on helping teen mothers to be more confident, powerful and active in their life. Furthermore, one of the main activities of our club is to provide systemic human rights education to members. Through this educational program, we unite them for girls’ rights. Slide 8 In the future, I am planning to do more for the advancement of girls’ rights. I would like to share some of my future plans with you. In the beginning of 2014, our club and the Princess center are planning to organize The First Forum of Young Mothers in Mongolia. Teenage and young mothers will discuss their problems and needs during this forum. I am also planning to work for raising awareness of “Age of consent” amongst teen population. Due to the lack of understanding about the “Age of consent”, teenage boys and girls face various sexual health problems such as early sexual intercourse, sexually transmitted diseases, unsafe abortion and unwanted pregnancy. Furthermore, I will focus on decreasing abortion rate amongst teenage girls and young women by way of organizing friendly trainings and awareness raising activities based on their sexual and reproductive rights. Additionally, I will work for creating friendly environment for girls and teen mothers. Slide 9 Like other girls, I like to dream, because it is costless. I have 5 dreams regarding my work on fighting for teenage mothers’ rights. My first dream is to make a strong activism of teenage and young mothers at the national level. The second one is to make our club a good and successful example of Young mothers’ Activism at the regional level. My third dream is to call teenage mothers of other Asian countries to be a part of our activism. The next one is to organize the Regional Forum of teenage and young mothers and share experiences. And my last dream is to establish a network of regional teenage mothers.
