4.  Examine David’s final words to his son Solomon
(1 Kings 2:1-9):

He challenged Solomon to act responsibly,
 He tells Solomon to walk with God,
 He wants Solomon to hear David’s commands.

5.  A Father loves a child so much that he will discipline
(Proverbs 13:24)
 “The father who does not discipline is a father who is
undisciplined himself and disobedient to God’s will.”
 David was a father who loved and cared for his son (2
Samuel 19:1-10).

 A father will use the Scriptures as a source of
admonition (1 Corinthians 10:11).
 A father will use spiritual knowledge as a source of
admonition (Colossians 3:16).
